My links prove you wrong.
Your links do not prove me wrong. I took a 15k pay cut when I took a state job.

I've been a state employee. Have you?

Everyone else in my industry was making more In public sector.

I no longer work for the state for that very reason.

@UncleCliffy'sDaddy wanna jump in on this one?

Your links are the exception to the rule. Not applicable to the office worker.

No need to wait 4 years, visitors from the forum are always welcome here in Beautiful Central Oregon.

Besides, with the added taxes Brown wants on gas you won't be able to get here 4 years from now.
Oh I'll be able to get there. I couldn't miss seeing you as a door greeter.

I worked 5+ years in the private sector sandwiched between 2 public sector stints. The private sector most certainly DOES pay more in most instances, plus they can and do offer bonuses and other perks the public sector mostly can’t. I had a couple of opportunities to go back to the private sector for much better money but I stayed where I was mainly because of the retirement (I may be dumb but I’m not stupid). At the end of the day it’s mostly a trade off based on personal priorities.

And now you're wasting our tax dollars with the full size candy bars you give out on Halloween.

There is no such thing as a low paying government job in Oregon.

The State of Oregon pays nearly twice what the private sector pays for most jobs, and has ridiculously exhorbitant benefits.

Yeah, they pay at least a whopping $15/hr. which, adjusted for inflation, is about the same as it was in 1965. Of course, this is extravagant in LaPine where people don't even need to buy tooth picks which they can sliver off the nearest tree. Gomer, down at the local gas station, don't need much to get by. He's got his bamboo fishing pole and lots of catfish to catch for dinner.
