RicBucher: Prob nothing but: couple sources say Ariza is wavering on commitment to Rockets. Hou says it's not true. Ariza's agent not returning calls.

I'll take Batum over him anyday!
Yes...in 3 years or so.
Ariza would be a big step up for a lower price than Hedo.
I think I would honestly rather have Batum then Ariza now, with the way our team is set up.
The choice isn't Ariza or Batum. It's Ariza or Outlaw.
The choice isn't Ariza or Batum. It's Ariza or Outlaw. Just like having Oden/Pryzbilla or Roy/Fernandez, there's no reason we can't go two deep at the 3. Ariza is a terrific defender. His shooting was not just a hot streak. Not for approx. 25 games in a pressure-packed month. He provides experience and toughness. When, if, Batum becomes the greater player, roles can be reversed.
Lastly, Ariza's yet another valuable asset to help the team build for the future.
Outlaw plays the 4 mostly off of the bench, and will play even more 4 in the future according to team sources in the media. So it's Batum/Ariza/Webster. As, if Batum becomes the greater player, which I believe he's already close to being, why pay Ariza starter money?
http://twitter.com/yahoosportsnbaJust checked out 'net rumor on Ariza bolting Rockets commitment for Cavs: Not true, says informed source. All set to sign with Houston.

Huh?A big step up?! lol
Batum is better than Ariza, right now.

I hope Batum passes him someday, but I'm not holding my breathHey, Ariza can improve too, he's pretty young as well. Don't just assume Batum can pass him in a few years.

2008-9 FG% FT% 3% TS%Ariza has a more polished offensive game that we need at the starting SF spot. Batum is clearly ready on the defensive end, but is as raw as it gets on offense. I'd like to see Batum off the bench for another couple seasons to work on his mid-range shooting and slashing.
He can improve and probably will. But Batum is 3 years younger, so has more development left (unless he or Ariza are unusual) and the difference between them is not that large.
remind me of the Lakers other crunch time SF options... he was in there largely by default.Except that Ariza is good enough to be on the floor in crunch time. Batum is too much of an offensive liability to be at this point.

We don't know if Nico was good enough to be on the floor at crunch time. We know that Nate trusted Travis more. Just sayin'...
yeah but at times Nic also proved that he didnt deserve to be in there for more than 6 minutes in a 3rd quarter.. why would he be deserving of crunch time minutes?
