Matts, Rick, I want ARod to fail, period. And I'll hope for him to fail at every opportunity, which is why this year is going to be hard for me to channel my emotions as a fan. And I don't want to hear that I should cut him some slack because he's served his suspension when I believe he got off way too easy and should be completely banned from Baseball or in jail, or better yet, both. In my own mind, he simply does not deserve my acknowledgment as being part of this team. And in this case, my principles of right and wrong will not be compromised for the sake of my "fandom".
...as far as Rose, he accepted a lifetime ban as part of his punishment. And IMO, that ban should not be lifted during his "lifetime" just because he had more hits than anyone. The evidence that nailed him was overwhelming, same for ARod. But both tried the "deny, deny, deny" approach until the very end and both them only showed any signs of remorse when it was too late.
...meanwhile, nearly 100 years later, Joe Jackson's ban remains even though there was no evidence that he ever received any money and/or that he played any part in the throwing of the World Series. and therefore, no reason to warrant such a ban. So for me, as long as "Shoeless Joe" is still wrongfully shut out, pretending that all should be forgiven with respects to ARod and Rose is not an option.
