The trade is not official yet.
Portland hasn't had a press conference for Holiday yet either.
I know that. Just thought it was interesting Bill Simmons posted that. As you know, he is a die hard Celtics fan

John Collins was basically traded for cap space originally. He doesn't have much value.

Sexton and Clarkson are score-first guards who don't play good defense. We already know what those type of player can be worth.

I would not be shocked to see Love to the Blazers IF he is not ring chasing - he would be a PR boon being homegrown and he used to be able to shoot a little -- have not paid much attention to his game the past few seasons just know he is very close to hanging it up . Also it would be such a Cronin type of move too

Going all-in for this upcoming draft isn't a bad idea.
He's done that the last 2 drafts. How many more is he a genius for? Already overpaid Markkanen. Kessler is coming due. He doesn't have his idiot friend McHale to bail him out with a hall of famer this time it seems.

Wonder if he will be bought out? I know Love has said in the past he wants to play for Portland at least once.

I mean at this point he’s just collecting money. I’ve really been impressed with how much he’s matured since coming to the NBA. He was prima-donna turd when he came into the league. Now he’s one of the more charitable players, does a lot for mental health awareness and is a proud Oregonian.

He’d be a better roster spot than a couple guys on the team.

I'm sure he wants to go elsewhere, but I'd love spending our 15th spot on him, and keeping him around for a while. Like Miami did with haslem. Be an elder statesmen in the room. A player coach position basically.

It's playing the odds, but they still don't have a superstar player to build around...... and neither do we technically.

Utah is in the same boat as us, where they're never going to get a superstar requesting to be traded there or sign there. But we pulled out of the nose dive and they didn't. I guess we're hoping that one of Deni/Shae/Scoot becomes a superstar.

I think Toumani has superstar potential too. Developing like Jimmy Butler did.

Prokorov might have helped more than McHale.

Yeah - I think it depends if you want the best chance to build a winner or best chance to win a title.

Ainge strategy is better to get a title - but might have more losing seasons first. Potentially even closer to a decade of losing.

Blazers seem to be in a rush to become a middling playoff team.

I am not seeing much of a difference in what Ainge did and what Joe did.
Last year, they kept Clarkson, Lauri, and Collins. Seems pretty similar to Grant, Simons, and Ayton
Now both are moving on.

I lived in Utah for 11 years. I don't think they will go for a decade of losing any more than most Portland fans.

You don't see a difference in PDX paying 105million for 35 year old Jrue and what Utah is doing? Ainge broke up a playoff team for a haul of picks.

Cronin is clearly trying to win sooner and has handed out huge contracts to many middling vets. Utah paid Lauri but that's it. They got vets in trades to acquire picks. Cronin has given out many picks for vets.

Utah is on year 4 of losing and probably at least 3 more years away from the playoffs whenever they switch to trying to win. So it's probably not too far from eventually getting close to a decade.

It'll take 4 or 5.

WTF is this.... So now Jokic is a bad teammate?

MPJ flourish? He might score a bunch. Look at how much $ Cam Thomas is getting in free agency after putting up buckets on a losing team. Clarkson/Sexton/Ant/Whitmore. Meanwhile 40yr old Horford/Lopez get way more interest.

The NBA doesn't care about empty stat PPG like it used to decades ago.
