Chandler Parsons would instantly be our best SF (since Terry refuses to play Aminu at the 3).

Evans/Parsons' combined salaries are 26.4M, meaning we'd have to send out 21.4M minimum to make that deal. I'd probably be in favor of sending out just about any combination of assets excluding Dame/CJ/Nurk/Collins/Shabazz/Aminu to make that deal.
Why Shabazz and Aminu untouchable in such a deal?

They take Butters and I'd entertain the idea.
Agreed, but I've changed my POV on Biebs:

I'd MUCH rather spend $10/$10.5/$11 mil on a player that doesn't play than $17/$18/$18.5 mil on a player who plays and sucks.

As long as Biebs doesn't play, he's out of my doghouse.

Parsons/Evans for Vonleh/Turner/Biebs would be too good to happen as it would get us out of the luxury tax, too.

If our return on a deal is
  1. a player on whom we have no bird rights (and therefore can't go above the MLE to re-sign if we're so inclined) and
  2. a player on an even worse contract than any of the other contracts we're presently lamenting;
then I'm absolutely insisting on receiving the best player in the deal. To me, the six I listed are better players than Parsons and Evans, so I wouldn't be willing to include any of them.

EDIT: Looking again, by that logic I should probably exclude Davis too, but since he's both expiring and somewhat extraneous, I'd be willing to part with him if necessary, but only if it got us under the tax line as well.

How could we get Tyreke Evans?

7:15: Reports have indicated that the Memphis Grizzlies will consider shopping their veterans, specifically Marc Gasol, Mike Conley and Tyreke Evans. Should Memphis blow it up and embrace rebuilding?
They should blow it up... they let go of a good coach and are 10-24 with no upside.

See if SA of DEN would deal for Conley would be my first thing I'd do if I were the Grizz GM, both teams have nice pieces and assets and both teams would be a great to send Conley away to because they are both good teams.

Then I'd explore a package deal of Gasol/Tyreke, maybe somewhere like Cleveland? Maybe Cleveland would give up the BKN pick... ESPECIALLY if IT3 comes back and looks great with the Cavs.

My goodness--Gasol and Tyreke on the Cavs would be insane.

It may be enough to top the Warriors, it obviously depends on IT3's fit though. But damn... imagine if Rose came
Back too..
Trying to look to see what deal that makes sense for both sides would look like. Would the Brooklyn pick + Zizic + salary relief be a good enough return for the Grizz to part with Gasol? Would Memphis insist on Crowder too perhaps?

Gasol for Frye/Crowder/Osman/Zizic works cap wise, and then Evans for the pick and a trade exception does as well. That's not a bad haul.

2 refs tonight in the Celtics/Rockets game...I thought they always had a back up ref? Dviss what do you think?
Off the top of my head Soccer, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Australian Football, and Cricket all have reserve referees/umpires at every single game, who can step in at any point when an official is indisposed.

For a league with as much money involved as the NBA, there is no excuse not to have an alternate at every game.

If you tag me I'll see this question.

There should always be 3 officials. This gives the best court coverage.

Logistics would be the reason why they don't assign a backup referee. It's extremely rare for a ref to miss a game. Paying someone to be available (fly them to the game) and not ref it is probably too costly.

IMO, they should always have a 4th ref anyway whose job is to review every reviewable call (out of bounds, 2 vs 3, etc) if he's not needed on the court (which would be most of the time). It would speed up the game when reviews are needed, and would eliminate this kind of issue when one of the main 3 is unavailable.

Ibaka suspended for getting in a fight with a staff member. Maybe he gets pissed enough to demand a trade? Wishful thinking here. I don’t care how much of an ass hole Ibaka is I would love him on our team.

Waste of money and there's no need. They should do it like the NFL does.

He makes way too much money for such little production.

If he can continue to shoot 38% from three, block shots, and play defense he would be worth it because of the impact he would have on our squad. When looking to make trades at the deadline you are generally going to have to compromise somewhere. Whether the player is aging, unproven, has character issues, or is on a bad contract there is usually a reason they are on the block. A 27 yr old Ibaka getting 21 mil for the next three years isn’t that bad.

I mean, if we can trade him for Turner and Meyers sure.....

He's 28. He's oft injured. They don't want any of our scraps for a player they have locked up long term.

At 28 he’s just entering his prime, he has missed a total of 7 games the last two years, and if he demands a trade and the Raptors can’t get over the hump he could be available for picks and filler. Won’t happen but it would be the type of move that could pay dividends and save some jobs.

Hey DUB...I was just thinking back to my days watching the All Blacks and France in the finals of at the time I think it was still 6 nations world championship or something and I knew there was another league in Australia....which one is Rugby Union and which is Rugby League? I'm thinking Union is the old traditional game?

League used to be the professional league and union the amateur. For my money League is more boring because they stop and start more often (like American Football) pretty much every time there's a tackle, so there's less incentive to pass. In union when you're tackled you have to release the ball and there's a scrum (or a ruck or a maul - I can't remember - we played it in school). The main one is Union - if you say "The All Blacks" you're talking about the NZ Rugby Union team.

(Despite nobody asking) Although English, I always preferred the French style of play because they ran every time. England had a very boring "kick the ball into touch at every opportunity" style. Serge Blanco was my fave player growing up.

Well, if you think Parsons is back to his pre-injury status, then Nurkic, Davis ,Vonleh and Harkless for Chandler and Evans.

Anybody catch the end of the Bucks/OKC game? WOW!
