FG% does imply a bit about getting fouls called; if you’re fouled the miss doesn’t count against you. So in a way it’s implying Deni isn’t getting whistles.

That said of course, his main value on the drive is the dish, which doesn’t involve him shooting at all. I’d love to see what his assist rate is versus these other iso players.

Jrue is averaging 4.8 turnovers/100-possessions; that's his highest mark in 12 years. Scoot is a turnover machine. So are Deni & Shaedon



Portland only has 2 players above a 2.0 assist/turnover ratio (Jrue-Wesley). And their best, Jrue, is only at 2.16 (his worst mark since his rookie season). My strong hunch is that those are the worst team marks, by far, in the league. Having more games from Jrue and Scoot wouldn't have changed this situation

for some reason, it sure looks like the Blazers have collected a group of players that don't shoot well and have the worst ball-security in the NBA. In this case it might be the sum of the parts is lesser than the whole.

Live ball turnovers are the issue, not regular turnovers. Live ball turnovers means bad passes, iirc.

yeah, I know what live ball turnovers are...which is most of them. Jrue doesn't commit a lot of moving screens. Scoot does pass to fans a lot though

The Blazers have had times they've been very aggressively pushing the pace. They get some easy buckets and bait opponents into turnovers as well but the flip side is they have a lot of turnovers. That's why guys like Jrue are way higher this year than any other times of their career.

If the Blazers had Dame and someone else that could generate efficient offense, plus better shooting, they could push the pace a bit less and be more careful with the ball.

I'm not terribly concerned with the turnovers this season but it is interesting.

If that happens or not - I don't know - but I am under the impression that OKC is more likely than not to finish the #1 seed - so the OP rooting for the Blazers to win and the Warriors / Clippers to lose is opposite your assertion that he wants the Blazers to play OKC in the first round.

Unless, as I wrote above, you believe OKC finish the 2nd seed.
