So are the Clippers as good as they've looked? Are the Nuggets and the Jazz really as bad? Is Memphis the team that beat the Warriors and the Rockets or the team that lost to the Mavs? Is it always this chaotic at the beginning of the season? I guess the Warriors got blown out in their season opener last year.

There's just many other reasons to not like him. I don't like any player that gets overhyped and has done nothing to earn the attention he's getting (I guess that's due to his dad). However, he also comes off as one of those guys that has that cocky "IDGAF" attitude. It comes off as humble to some, it just comes across differently to me. His rapping is super cringe-worthy, and some of the stuff (like the draft day video from his hotel room). I also don't like his game and think he's just a stat chaser/stat stuffer who doesn't really help his team. All those are reasons I dislike him that aren't because of his father or the fact that he's a Laker.

I'm sorry that's what you see. Rapping usually is a cocky thing to do anyway. But in his interviews he doesn't seem cocky at all. I watch how he interacts with his teammates and referees and I don't see what you're talking about.
You seem to be manufacturing that in your brain somehow. He's always been humble in every interview I've seen him in. Show me something cocky BESIDES rapping... You're reaching there bro..

Edit:

Even the way he interacts with opponents. Beverly basically knocked him to the ground and he got up and kept fighting and playing like it was nothing.
Cocky is his FATHER. Not him. And just like I said, you're projecting. You're projecting the image you have about his father on to him.

What I was seeing last night in the Washington and the Lakers game was similar with our game with NO but the difference was our bench came through for us and there didn't.

"main complainer"

Hah! You make me laugh dude. Sure, if someone doesn't want to deal with your BS then they can leave. No disrespect here. You'll never get me or any of the other true HCP "haters/complainers" to leave.

Doug was a solid fan of the Blazers, and if you pride yourself on getting him off the forum, that explains more about you than it does about him.

You probably think this is me breaking down or you triggered me, but really, I brought up @Dougnsalem and you are the one that lost their cool. I'd never try and take you down, you are the laughing stock of the forum. What would we do without you?! Or our lawns!
I'm the "laughing stock" huh?

Thunder will prolly be the one team no one wants to face in the West come playoff time.(as long as Melo doesn't return to his Denver form)
I have to question if they'll put it together quickly enough to really get a top 4 seed.
When LBJ/Bosh/Wade came together then went what 8-8 in their first 16 games. Yet I think they still managed the #1 seed out east?
If OKC is .500 after 20 games, will they be able to make up the ground necessary with how competitive the West is?
I think the way the way that team is built, it won't matter where they will be ranked out west come playoff time. They will be tough to beat 4 times in a series. Chemistry will take some time, but they will be solid come xmas in my opinion. NOW is the time to play them.

Remember Butler has been out. Him missing is definitely effecting/affecting ( never know which one to use) that team on both ends.

Look at post 1660 in this thread. He has been a minus on defense in the 3 games he was in...

Yep just like we see young teams who don't yet know they are bad, play great out of the gate. Good teams often don't have the urgency mentally to "turn it up" right out of the gate, and bad teams play with a lot more confidence until they get embarrassed a few times and then begin their downward trend. It seems like it takes about 10-15 games for some teams to show their true colors.
1st place out east, Orlando Magic on line 1......

You are better than this. You are forming an opinion on 2 games and hoping it holds water. Just like Patty was hoping to average 23 pts/game. Butler is one of the best two way players in this game. That negative D he has been playing is probably because he's on the court with some new players. That guy is fantastic and will have a positive effect/affect on the teams defense when all is said and done.

No, I am not. You said they were bad because Butler was not there - so far this year, this is not true.

I said before - that they were horrible defensively last year, lost their best defensive player at the most important defensive position (PG) and gained Butler which should elevate their defense in the SG position - but still, their defense is suspect.

I expect Butler to get better when he understands his new team - but I am not certain that this actually elevates them over where they were last year - when they were awful defensively. The reality is that so far this year - they were all awful - and the question is - will Butler's play elevate them all or will they bring him down? It is early - but it was not an immediate upgrade getting Butler - and as I said - I have my doubts. Rubio was by far their best defensive player last year - and he is not there anymore.

Not sure about the stats so far but I can't see how Minnesota could possibly be a bad defensive team this year. Based on their coach and players. Now offensively I can see where they might struggle a bit.

Funny. Based on what we have seen last year and what happened - I find it hard to believe they will be a good defensive team this year.

Things affect other things and have an effect.

You can effect change. The wind affects your golf shot.

Almost all the time you want "affect" -- unless you're talking about the HCP Effect.

Yep, their young guys (KAT and Wiggins) haven't bought into playing defense or shown they are capable of doing so at the NBA level. Thibs is supposed to be a defensive Svengali, but that team sucked ass on defense last year and he seems to hope bringing in his guy Jimmy Buckets will change the team's mindset. Not so far, but time will tell...

Butler and Taj Gibson.

Their defense is about worst in the league. Yet here's what they look like without Butler:

This actually confused me more, but thanks for the help. I'm good with there, their and they're.........and then and than......but this one has always got me. It has affected my effectiveness!

Learning fast !!

Kinda like your Blazers chances of making the playoffs.

I guess I was looking at their starting 5. KAT, Wiggins, Butler, Gibson and Teague should be pretty decent. But now that you mention it other than Dieng their bench does look weak defensively. (JC, Brooks, Shabazz, Bjelica)
