Kind of surprised Malcolm retired.

Heart must not be in it anymore....physically he looked good to go and better than any other bench guard for NY minus McBride this preseason (Clarkson is going to be a huge bust of a signing imo)

...And they are down Hart to start the year most likely.

His body has been breaking down, why continue to hammer it for vet min type money? he made a bunch, enjoy life and don't further trash your bod

Keegan Murray signs 5 year 140 mil deal. Wow! averaged 12.4 PPG shooting 34% from 3 and 6.7 rebounds. I mean WTF guy is ok/average. I assume he has to be rated a good defender, I know the CBA keeps rising but this to me is ridiculous, but it is the Kings. Also, probably makes Camara think he should get the same or more.

well, he signed this off-season. If Sharpe and Camara sign next off-season they could both get more; maybe quite a bit more. Especially Sharpe if he has a good season

And Shae

Camara deserves $200 million+ supermax if Keegan deal is fair market value.

However I don't think Keegan deal is - the Kings just keep being the Kings. That team is locked into nowhere for the next 5 years.

Meanwhile teams like the Rockets, Hawks, Wolves signed better players to much more affordable contracts.

I don't follow this. Shae and Keegan both were in the 2022 draft and both currently are eligible for the same 5 year extensions.

if Sharpe signs next summer it won't be an extension. Sharpe can still sign an extension. But the deadline is Monday

and yes, I understand that they would be starting their new deals the same summer. I just believe signing an extension when the salary cap is 154M won't have the same dynamic as an RFA negotiation when the cap is 168M.

I'm also wondering if people are misreading contracts if they just look at salaries. It's probably better to gauge deals as a percentage of the salary cap the year they sign. Murray's extension has an annual average salary (28M) of 17% of the cap next season. When Simons signed his deal his annual salary was 20% of the cap. Nurkic had a annual salary of 15% of the cap

from Sharpe's draft class, Banchero, Holmgren, and Jalen Williams have all signed max extensions of 25% base salary and 28.5% annual. Jabari Smith's annual is 14.5%. Keegan Murray's annual is 17%. Other than them, when I looked a week or so ago the only other member of the draft class that had signed an extension is Nikola Jovic at 15.6M/year

Now it's possible Dundon will play some hardball like the Bulls did with Giddey. His average salary is 25M which is 16% of the cap. If Sharpe only gets 16% of the cap his annual salary would be 27M. Same for Camara. And if Sharpe comes out and significantly improves this season, he's going to get more than 16-17% of the cap. If his base is 20% of the cap, give or take a percent, he could have an annual salary in the 35-37M range. I don't think he'll hit anywhere near that. But I do think the people expecting him to get 20M/year or so were way off base
