Its possible keeping the Bucks pics is better for us, if Giannis goes to a team he chooses and it screws the Bucks over.

It's a Catch-22: if we give the picks back to the Bucks, they become really good because they tank, and if we don't, they make sure they don't tank and the picks aren't great.

Mavs are the mirror-image of the Bulls. Suddenly they're red hot. Can they play the Lakers now?

Not if Dame comes back next year lights out. Father time is coming down the tracks. We need stars and we only have one emerging star in Deni and an aging Lillard. If Dame can even come back as 85% of his star self for two years, we need a third star next to those guys to give it a shot.

I don’t see that way, way too many permutations to just be a catch-22. It really depends on where they trade him to.

Making 27 million doesn't mean what you think it means.
actually, I'm not sure 27.7M means what you think it means

But here's the bottom line on that: next summer he'll be a just-turned 27 year old unrestricted free agent. The salary cap will be going up 10%, so if his current salary is warranted then he'd sign for around 30M next season

but clearly, he won't be getting that. You mentioned his numbers...all this year's numbers have shown is that his best efficiency happens when he's a lower-usage backup playing less than 30 minutes a game; in the case of this season, less than 25 minutes.

* The NBA average for PER is 15.0. His career mark is 14.0 and he's had only 2 seasons above the average and 6 seasons below
* the NBA average for winshares/48 is .100. His career mark is .061 and he's never been above the average.
* the NBA average for BPM is 0.0. His career mark is -1.1 and he's been a net negative in 7 of his 8 seasons

and for any team that values defense....yikes! Ant has consistently, year after year, been at the bottom of his team's ranking in defensive rating and DBPM. And guess what, Simons is dead last on the Celtics in both defensive categories this season

to summarize, Simons is an undersized SG who in reality is really a tweener guard with no capacity to play wing, and no 3-and-D and two-way skills. He's one of the absolute worst defenders in the NBA. He can shoot from the perimeter, and he has just enough passing ability not to be one-dimensional, but that's only on one end of the floor. I think if you asked Blazer fans who they'd rather have as a backup guard, Simons and his warts or a healthy Blake Wesley and his warts, most, by a wide margin, would choose Wesley

so the question is will Simons even get more than an MLE contract next summer?

He is shooting 45% from the floor, the highest in his career.

He's shooting 40% from 3, which would be tied with JG on the Blazers for the lead (of anyone shooting more than 30 shots from 3).

He's the 64th highest paid player in the league, behind D White (also on the Celtics) who is shooting 38% and 31% from the floor.

Per 36, he's the 2nd leading scorer on the Celtics ffs. And usually you run into random per 36's that blow that out of reality (example: Duop is averaging 16 per 36 but there's no way he'd average that if he played 36 minutes...whereas Simons has a history of showing he'd average 19-22 points per 36). Of the 21 games Simons has played in, 10 of them he's shooting *above* his seasonal average, and 13 of them he's shooting above his career average. 15 of those games he's shooting above 33% from 3, and 9 of them he's either right at or above his career averages from 3.

Making 27 million doesn't mean what you think it means.
His most recent stretch he scored 18 pts, 12 pts, 5pt and 5pts.......according to the Celtics talking heads his lack of defense makes him unplayable in Boston's system for long stretches. Making 27 million means, for his production he's untradeable..and they've been trying hard to trade him. Ant is a one trick pony.

Yeah if you are going to be a one trick pony you better be really good at that trick.

statmuse is so context-free most times these trivia snapshots are meaningless and often, just tiny sample size nonsense

Lebron did it for 352 games
Kareem did it for 162 games

Reaves has done it for 17 games

and you just said in another post you don't pay attention to stats, just wins. It really seems you pay attention to stats you like and don't pay attention to stats you don't like

You were expecting a player who’s been in the league a couple years to have a streak as long as Kareem. Bro you got issues. You simply could have said he’s having a great season. But no…… have to tear down a player for some reason. Guy has a bright future and yet you would dig up something about his efficiency rating on humid days in odd numbered quarters or some shit. Just appreciate a player not drafted coming in and filling it up. For fucks sake.

I didn't tear down Reaves ya dumb shit

I tore down a stupid no-context statmuse factoid that's actually labeled dishonestly

You calling me names? How did it get to that level? Scared to think how you would react to a real life situation.

Really hope this is OK to post here. Mods, let me know if it’s against the rules please.

I apologize if this offends anybody. Just thought it was a great stat. Imagine this place if this was one of our undrafted players like Caleb Love!

Whoa now. Cool off a bit there turbo.
I was plenty cool...said with affection

and again, I was trashing statmuse, but apparently HCP was confused and thought that somehow, I was trashing a player on his favorite team

I did...it was in jest, but if you're offended, sorry

but please answer me this: what I said was:

your response to that was to claim I was "tearing down Reaves". Where exactly is it I'm tearing down Reaves in my post? huh?

I like Reaves and think he's a really good player. But a 17 game sample size? when Lebron had done it for 20 times as long and Kareem for 10 times as long. Lebron has done it in 13 different seasons stretching over 830 game. Kareem did it in 3 different seasons over 238 games (my earlier numbers way off. A 17 game sample compared to those?

Imagine playing like this for the team you love and finding out they were trying to trade you but the other team said no.

You know what has been the biggest eye opener to me over the years is seeing these random no name guys come and go and they have been absolutely dominant at the HS/College level and just not have it for one reason or another at the pro level. Always been the star of their teams and just didn’t quite get to the right situation to flourish at this level.
We used to have friends and people we know that went on to D1 in college or the pros in Europe come back and play with us at my gym over the years….they would DESTROY us out on the court!
I think it’s amazing what Reeves is doing. Lighting the league up!

You didn’t offended me ma’am. That’s impossible. Instead of doing 10 hours of research and typing out all this info and stats, it’s ok to just acknowledge a player is killing it or has killed it in the past. Not EVERY stat or players accomplishments need to be torn down. Just give props where they are due. Not just Blazer players. I never see people on here kill Deni for pretty much averaging the same amount of FT attempts as SGA, yet SGA get’s MURDERED by people on here. Fandom is a dangerous thing.
