Youtube. LOL

Just admit you didn't watch Bird in his prime.

So those YouTube plays were doctored? That video wasn't even put together by someone on YouTube.

You are now denying those highlights ever happened?

They're similar in that they were forwards who could run a break and usually averaged over 5 assists per game.

You've even walked back you're comparison. Pippen was a primary ballhandler for the Bulls and basically played PG at times.

Bird never did that. Comparing Bird to Pippen is hilarious. They are nothing alike, except that yes, they were better on the break than Dirk. In the half-court, Dirk and Bird are much closer to each other than either are to Bird.

I showed you passes that Bird made and Dirk never made. You couldn't deny it so you laughed.

I win.

I said "a closer comparison to THAT PART (passing) of Bird's game was Pippen.". They both played like PGs. Bird even moreso than Pippen. Bird averaged more assists than Pippen.

Bird had 59 regular season triple doubles, 5th most in NBA history. Dirk has had 2.

Bird is THIRD all time in playoff triple doubles.

Horrible horrible comparison.

In his own way, sure. But watching Nowitzki in these playoffs has been so fun. He's is unstoppable offensively. He finally IS Larry Bird. People thought Nellie was crazy, but Nellie was right.

Except, playoffs and regular season combined, Bird had SIXTY SEVEN more triple doubles than Dirk.

Dirk doesn't come close to being what Bird was. At all.

I'm not denying they happened, but they're only 10 plays out a guy's career.

Hell, Dirk also has won a 3-point contest.

Are you saying the Nowitzki has never dived on the floor for a ball?

Pippen/Bird. Classic.

Bird triple doubles (reg season and playoffs): 69
Dirk: 2

They're EXACTLY alike!! LMAO!!!

Check. Mate.

I already said Dirk wasn't the paser that Bird was. Did you miss that post. In terms of clutch, though, and how they score, Dirk IS Larry Bird. LOL at Scottie Pip'en/Bird. That was just dumb.

Why did this upset you to the point of you insinuation that "people" like me are racist by comparing two similar players??

I'd have been fine with it, except that was ridiculous.

I like how you skip over my "except in passing" explanation in the first post I replied to you.

I never said they were exactly alike. You took my post out of context and now have gone all manic about it.

You mean two players aren't exactly alike? Wow! Such insight!

Read the post again, Eric. I said that Dirk is unstoppable offensively, as was Bird. For some reason, you took this to mean that I'm a racist. Nellie made the Bird comparison whne he drafted Dirk, not me, which is why I referenced it. In these playoffs, Dirk IS Larry Bird on offense, as in he is unstoppable. Claiming a win while comparing Pippen to Bird is the sign of a poster who didn't watch much NBA hoops in the '80s.

Check. Mate.

EXCEPT IN PASSING is a BIG difference though.

You can't say that Dirk IS Bird and then say that a Dirk is nothing like a HUGE part of Bird's game.

When one player has 69 triple doubles and the other has 2, you can't say that Dirk IS Larry Bird.

I never said Pippen IS Bird. You said Dirk IS Bird then acted like passing was a minor difference. If Dirk IS Bird, why hasn't he gotten a triple double in the playoffs.

You were wrong. You lose. I win.

Dirk is NOT Bird on offense. A HUGE HUGE part of Bird's offense was PASSING. Creating for others. TRIPLE DOUBLES. Passing is an OFFENSE stat.

Bird: 69
Dirk: 2

Oh yeah, they're EXACTLY alike on offense, LOL!

My favorite part of your argument was when you dismissed Bird's highlights because they were on YouTube (?!?!!!?)

larry legend was more than a scorer

saying dirk is "scoring" like larry "these playoffs"...not really shaking the tree there man, you could say the same thing about shaq 10 years ago lol

Really, I'd compare Dirk's series against the Thunder more to Hakeem Olajuwon destroying David Robinson in the 1995 WCF. The Dreamshake was an unstoppable move. Baseline fadeaway after baseline fadeaway. Completely unstoppable on offense. And they were seven footers. Larry was 6'9".

Oh wait... the other night, Dirk joined Hakeem on the list of players who have had two 40+ points, 60% FGs games in a playoff series. Where is BIRD on that list? They're exactly alike!

Dirk's 29 ppg these playoffs is actually more than Bird ever scored as an average in the playoffs (27.5 in 83-84).

Dirk's PER of 27.3 is also better than anything Bird ever put up in the playoffs (26.3 in 83-84).

My mistake. Dirk is having a better individual (and team in terms of W/L) playoff than Bird ever dreamed of having. Plus, Dirk has put up 4 playoff PERs in single seasons higher than Bird's max in 83-84.

My bad. Dirk is a better playoff player than Bird. They are similar statistically in the regular season, but Dirk is much better in terms of playoff production.

Calm down. I already said you won. Clearly Dirk is better than Bird in terms of playoff production. My comparison was off.

Dirk's been awesome, no doubt. My favorite player in the playoffs. Dallas has completely won me over. But it's not about who's better. They are DIFFERENT players with DIFFERENT games. Bird has more triple doubles (3rd All Time in playoffs) and three championships. Dirk's game 1 against the Thunder was a top 20 individual playoff performance of all time. Just amazing. And he's one of like 5 or 6 guys to have two 40 point 60% games in one series.

Depends on how you measure playoff production. Bird had 10 triple doubles, third all time. And he produced more championships,

you should be the only person in the world to think this, it would be unique

papag do you think PER is the end all be all? or just arguing for funs sake

I could be wrong but I don't think Bird DREAMED of great PERs in the playoffs. He dreamed of championships and won 3.
