Around the NBA: Playoffs Edition

I think Dallas wins no matter how he plays. Dallas is deeper, more talented, more experienced, and has an unguardable player in Dirk Nowitzki.

Watching Durant is making me ill. It never once crossed my mind on the night the Blazers drafted Oden that the Sonics would win a playoff series before Portland, let alone make it to the WCF.

Remember when Rich Bucher said the Thunder had a brighter future than the Blazers and everyone in here was all upset? Looks like he was right. Western Conference Finals in their second playoff performance together. Three first round exits for us. Fire Nate. Hire Adelman. I'm sick of this shit.

Can Marion effectively defend Durant, though?

Should be a great series. OKC got smart and bodied up Randolph while flashing a defender at him, and nobody else stepped up to help him.

Even if Marion can't defend Durant, I think Dallas can absorb his scoring and win the series.

I do, but that was before Roy and Oden became shells of themselves, and the team decided to get very old by bringing in Miller and Camby.

Perhaps. Should be a great series, though. Memphis was playing as well as anybody in the playoffs, and OKC regained HCA to beat them in 7. Dirk has to continue his great play, and Ibaka can at least bother him a bit with length.

I'd take DAL in 5 or 6. They're gonna absolutely feast on OKC's mistake-prone style of play (on both ends of the floor).

Miami in 6 in the east.

The Grizzlies need better players. They depend on Zach more than the Thunder depend on Durant. Oklahoma could just focus on stopping Zach.

Which makes it more odd why Brooks didn't devote more attention to Zach the entire seires. The games he did, OKC exposed the limitations of Zach's ISO post game, and his struggles to still consistently make the good pass. I did hear Brooks interviewed by Jack Ramsey prior to the game, and he said that he doesn't believe in doubling every time, because when teams did it to Hakeem, players like Brooks were able to get open shots.

What's your source? I'd like to keep track of it.

Papa, do you have a site for PER/usage or were you just calculating it yourself? If there's a site I'd like to keep track of it.

That Gibson dunk over Wade was fucking NAAASSSTTTYYY!

DWade literally got banged on. Dunk of the playoffs so far.

I calculate it myself, but that's not a popular stat on this board, so I stopped using it, for the most part. Still, a ratio of 1/1 seems ideal, and very few players achieve it. Minstrel thought it was the mean, but it isn't even close to the mean. 0.7 seems to be the average.

Bulls in 5 games.

Heat celebrated championship in July and then another championship when they beat the Celtics. It's tough to 3peat, especially in 10 months.

Heat will win Game 2. This was their hangover game. Heat in 6.

We'll see. Bulls are now 4-0 against Heat this season. Regular season usually doesn't mean anything but you have to wonder how this is affecting the Heat's psyche. Bulls must have a WORLD of confidence. They're bigger and deeper and have the MVP. Heat are in trouble.

The Bulls swept the Heat in the regular season

No team that has been swept by a team, beat that same team in the playoffs. History is against the Heat here.

I'm confused about that stat. 2008-09 Magic swept Lakers 2-0 but lost to Lakers in Finals. Maybe they mean just for the Conf Finals?

I heard it on ESPN so who knows

Probably is just conference finals as 2-0 isn't really a true sweep

You guys still think the Bulls won't be in the finals?

You really think the Bulls will be able to hold both LBJ and Wade to 12-32 shooting, and 33 points combined for three more games?

Highly doubt it.

Possible. They've been the best defensive team all year.

I'm pulling for the Mavs, not just because they beat us, but by process of elimination. I hate the Thunder and Heat. The Bulls have already won too many championships. And the Mavs are still looking for their 1st.
