In first season with Thunder, George sets sights on capturing MVP
https://www.thescore.com/news/1351741

A reason the Thunder might not be as good as they look on paper. So you have a noncommittal player, in George, whose personal goal for his, most likely, 1 season in OKC, is to win mvp. And this is playing next to Westbrook, who selfishly plays for numbers to get an mvp. Could get interesting. Two guys not playing team ball: just looking to get theirs.

I was taught to funnel a player to where I wanted him to go. I was taught to ATTACK offenses. Not react to them. The offense is supposed to react to the Defense.

Hence the saying:

"Take what the Defense gives you".
Did you ever funnel a player back to the locker room? That would be cool, because then you could play 4 on 5.

Yeah, you can attack offenses, and try to funnel them. But you're still going to react to where the ball goes.

Offense controls the ball.
Defense reacts to the ball.
It's pretty simple basis. Just because you can attack and funnel offenses doesn't mean defense isn't reactionary. There's a reason why one player can influence an offense much more than a defense, and why a offense is so much more valuable in a guard.

If things were equal, Tony Allen would be as valuable as James Harden.

Tony Allen has been more valuable than James Harden overall in the playoffs, I'd argue.
We can compare any defensive first and offensive first guard and the offensive first guard will always be more valuable.

How was he b[l]uffing?

Bones: If things were equal, Tony Allen would be as valuable as James Harden.

Me: Tony Allen has been more valuable than James Harden overall in the playoffs, I'd argue.

He sticks to absolutes then side steps it when his own comparison doesn't hold water.

Wiggins at $30M/yr makes you pucker up a bit. That team's gonna get real expensive real quick if they keep everyone.
