We coulda had this guy over Zach Collins since Olshey wanted a big so damn bad

It’s time to consolidate everything for another star. You get 2 real stars and other serviceable players will come. I’d offer Nurk, Collins, CJ, Trent and 2 1s for Giannis.

I’d like to give Dame a real chance.

Never going to happen

If it did, we get Giannis for one year with Dame but don't have anyone else

I wish the Blazers had a coach like Mike Malone. Get me a coach who will run our entire offense through Nurk. Until we do, we won't see the full potential of the Blazers.

I’m willing to bet having Dame and Giannis on our roster would make filling out the rotation pretty easy. It would create the most interest in our team from FAs maybe ever.

We need to find that one coach who could beat the great Mike Malone in an elimination game. Malone has been superior to Pop, Rivers, and Synder head to head in elimination games. What coach out there has the chops to take him down in a Game 7 even when his best player doesn't have a great game?

Well, if they did that trade I think what we would get coming back to us, to make salaries match is Giannis (obviously), Brook Lopez and George Hill. That would mean we would have Dame starting at PG, we would probably need to use the entire MLE to get a starting SG, Ariza would likely start at SF, Giannis PF, BroLo C, Hill off of the bench at both guard spots, hopefully Hood to backup on the wing, maybe Wenyen backing up Giannis, hopefully we get some contributions from Nas and Ant, maybe as some in here have said Melo would come back at the vet min plus the non-bird exception (an additional 25%) giving us some quality offense off the bench at both forward positions and then the rest of the team would get filled with ring chasers willing to take the min. Oh and I guess since we'd be desperate for quality off of the bench, we might even go into the tax by using our bird rights on Hassan (although that might be tricky because that would most likely mean we could only use the tax payer MLE instead of the full one to get a quality starting SG unless we just went small with Dame and Hill). After all of that we better hope that we make a serious run at a championship and that Giannis and Dame become besties so we get to re-sign Giannis to a super max.

If the Heat let him go, let's bring him on! Until then, let's stick with the one coach who could beat Malone in an elimination game.
I was a little slow on that one. I thought you were asking which coach would be the most likely to do that, not the coach who already did.

Woohoo go Denver! Maybe the clippers had a better shot of beating the Lakers, but at least it’s not LA vs LA, and maybe the nuggets can do it!

That’s a little overboard I feel like but I’m with you in the fact that getting Giannis would be huge. I’d rather take Collins out of that trade. If MIL isn’t interested than so be it.

Dame
Hood
Melo/Giannis
Giannis/Melo
Collins

Body. Of. Work. Any of the guys you mentioned would be stark upgrades to Terry Stotts.

3 playoff series wins (Rockets ‘14, Clippers ‘16, Nuggets ‘19) without home court advantage. Tell me another coach in the NBA right now that has that on his resume.

Those must be all his wins in playoffs though...

Not really, Clippers had one of the biggest chokes in recent sports history and looked so shook late in the game. After all the shit they talked all year, they brought it on themselves.
That said, the biggest shit-talker, Pat Bev, was +4 for his 30 minutes, so you can't lay this at his feet. Lou Will was a plus as well, so the pre-Kawhi Clips did their part.

This all reminds me of something that pisses me off: whenever the Shaq-Kobe Lakers beating the Pippen-Wallace-Sabonis Blazers in 2000 comes up, it's always played as this amazing comeback triumph for LA. What's never mentioned is that the Blazers were DOWN 3-1 IN THAT SERIES! And that's when comebacks from 3-1 NEVER happened. So effectively, the Lakers just managed to avoid an epic collapse.

Pop is obviously one of the best coaches of all time.

Rivers with multiple all stars on his roster for many years has yet to reach the Western Conference Finals once. Needed 3 HOF players to get to the finals. He gets to drive a Ferrari against Toyota Camry's and comes up short the vast majority of the time.

Like Synder as a coach. How is his resume far superior to Stotts? Makes the playoffs 66% of the time, no more than 5 wins in any playoff run.

Paul George is a loser
I'm not really a fan of Paul George but to actually call him a loser?
Dude has come back from 6 surgeries and is still a prolific player in this league. Maybe give the guy a little credit?
They lost a series. They will use this as motivation for next year. You can bet on that.

They’ve never played in the playoffs as duos, and Lillard>>>>Jokic and Murray in a real Game 7 in Denver last year.

So, what’s not close?
Welcome. Glad you are here.
Try to not take things too literally from a few of the posters here.
Some just don't really enjoy Blazer success as much as other teams.
