The only way Joe could deal him was to include value, like Deni or Tou.

what does this mean for cap space etc ie all the finances ?

Would love to see a side by side breakdown of what Cronin has gained and lost. Like what’s the net result from all his transactions. I don’t keep up or care that much usually but it seems like the ledger is getting more and more lopsided
Remember when people told us giving up Norm Powell for Keon Johnson was a good move?

How about Josh Hart for Kris Murray?

So we have 2 roster spots now right? 3 for 1 Grant trade coming?

How many more players does this guy need to just give up for free before you question his ineffective negotiation skills?
I honestly don't care about the individual transactions, this team was devoid of talent, athletic ability and hope when he started, it's much better now and last year was the most enjoyable to me since 2018.

I expect some transactions to be fantastic (Deni, Tou), some to be meh (DA, Ant) and some bad (GP2, Grant). I don't expect perfection from anyone.

Is this team more interesting and exciting than the one he started with? You bet. Is it more fun to watch? Yes. Am I hopeful for the future? I am.

Kris Murray the shooter who shot 27% from three last year

I’d guess he didn’t want to go to the team that would’ve traded for him

The individual transactions largely making no sense and losing the majority of them.... are the reason we had to pay a guy with a 35 mil expiring contract to play on a different team. The ineptitude adds up.

I expect they’ll let Jabari walker and Banton walk now. I think they like Murray off the bench

My assumption too. Note that if he does a 20 mil buyout and makes up the 15 mil on the table by taking a full MLE deal somewhere else, our cap number goes down by 15 million this year. We are currently 6 mil under the luxury tax w a payroll of 181 million before this ayton buyout.

Just feels like teams make trades all the time for guys who “nobody wants” and get at least something out of it. I mean how much value does Porzingis have, being hurt all the time and making $30m? A couple second rounders and G Niang is better than nothing.

Porzingis is a way better player than Ayton. There's a reason a team is willing to gamble on him and not Ayton.

Considering we got nothing for Ayton and we had to take on Jrues long ass contract, I don’t think Grant has any trade value.
Oh I think we are gonna have to attach compensation for sure, but I think he’s gone.

I was fine with letting him walk next summer… but I thought maybe he had some value as an expiring. I guess not.

Nope. 23M under the first apron before. 18-ish after.
I believe we would have been hard capped if the jrue/ant deal goes as is, it probably hasn't because Portland is not ready for that yet
