Cronin's Failure is NOW complete -- he traded for Ayton and could not even trade him out of the Blazers and get something for the bum.

I'd say he didn't want to take on multiple players to match Ayton's salary...this was about cap relief and roster spots. His money pays Jrue. This move is just a precursor to another move coming. By training camp we'll see what Cronin's off season was like. So far it's great.

I guess they think a buyout is better than getting 35 million dollars in contracts back in return. Especially if they were not ending contracts. I wanted to keep him, but not after they drafted Hansen. It made no sense then

Not a fan of this. As much as people dislike Ayton he isn't useless. He was our best center we had on the roster imo. I'm not saying Clingan cant get better but he obviously needs to improve his cardio.

People were hammering the possibility of Ant walking away at year end as a way of defending the Jrue trade.

Looks like we cut Ayton for nothing.....

Reason it's a failure cause now it makes the Dame trade look worse and it already kind of looked average at best and I will admit it would have been hard to trade the bum but again this was still a failure cause we NEVER should have taken the risk on someone who does not give 2 fucking shits.

No amount of negotiation can save the fact that DeAndre Ayton is a terrible player and there's a reason no one wants him.

too bad Cronin took 2 years to come to that realization

DC is fine this cardio thing is BS and if you looked at his minutes played per game you would know this and not pull this BS excuse out.

Ayton's garbage. You don't want a center slacking on D and trying to jack inefficient jumpers - especially if your trying to set a defensive identity.

Id much prefer we resign Walker and play him any needed center minutes. Even Reath is way more enjoyable to watch that Ayton lazy play.

Thank gosh 2/3 of the AytonAntGrant big3 is dead!!!

It isn't bs though. If you argued he was in his rookie year and should improve in that realm I agree with you. But we will need to see it.

I don't disagree that he isn't a good fit but he isn't garbage.

wrong again, with teams like Char and LA and perhaps a few others desperate for a C paying Ayton 14 mil is really very reasonable

I thought he was talking about how much Ayton was willing to give back on his salary. I'd be a little surprised it it's more than 5M

He’s not garbage. He’s not Wilt but he’s not garbage. My god this place is all or nothing. If a guy isn’t Lillard or Roy he fucking sucks. Ayton is overpaid for what he gives and his effort is lackluster but with all that he’s a 16/10 guy.

If they couldn't get a deal they liked for Ayton, makes more sense to buy him out than take in a player they don't want or need. I think some here just automatically hate everything Blazers management does regardless.

This place can be so ridiculous. Ayton Simons Grant all “fucking suck”. Yet they’ve been in league for a long time and will stay in the league.

Look, I love Dame and was pulling for him in Milwaukee, but I am not sure how that trade can ever look bad now after his injury. I hope he comes back good as ever, but he is getting paid 58.5 million next year, and I doubt he will play.

Yeah such a failure. They got an all-defense guy who is only in his second year. Such a horrendous failure.

What did we give up? Nurk and Little? Oh wow such a failure.

I am not saying he does not have some work on that end but he was fine specially towards the end of the year and this is a fact but whatever believe whatever you want even if wrong -- LOL

After Grant is gone who will we turn on next?

I've been saying it since his rookie year... if Sharpe gets to his second contract, he'll be the next scape-goat and will be taking minutes from some high potential 2027 draft guy.

Similar to the complaints about Ant taking opportunity from Sharpe, and CJ from Ant.

the two Blazers who irritated me, a lot, were Simons and Ayton. And I was pretty convinced neither had enough trade value to leverage a 1st out of some team

both of them gone make me actually want to watch games next season. Good job Cronin. Can't wait to see how big a reduction Ayton agrees to in his salary

Grant doesn't bug me; his contract does though

The Bucks picks look fabulous. Deni was 100% from Dame assets. Camara was in the deal. These legit may be our franchise top 3 assets!

Just a reminder on buyouts and the offset language. We get spared of his new contact amount by half minus the league minimum. League minimum is like 1.2. So if he signs for 5 million with someone, we're spared his buyout amount, plus (5-1.2)/2. So another 1.9 million. Not the FULL new contract amount.

I was hopeful someone would want him, but can also see the argument for not taking back other bad deals, and this way, you give him an opportunity to sign somewhere at the beginning of free agency, like someone else mentioned, instead of waiting until a lot of money is gone.

I agree but I didn't want to say it and get all the pushback/flak for it.

Are they worth $90m/year combined?
Yeah if they weren't entitled to roles/shots/minutes and we're on vet min deals I'd have loved all 3 of them.

But when they're the "big3" of the Blazers and given free reign to do whatever they wish.... Pretty easy to be justified in criticizing them.

Yeah I'm ok with Grant coming back. Without Ayton/Ant he played very good team ball in the early back to back wins over Minny.

No. And neither are most of the guys who make $30m. Is Porzingis? There are tons of guys who make way more than they’re worth. But they don’t “fucking suck”. It’s just not true and it’s frankly stupid to keep saying over and over
