Do we know if Ayton's $ will affect us only this upcoming season or stretched over multiple years?
It would be malpractice if the Blazers stretched him when not using cap space and far below the tax.

It's normally reported the same day the player is waived if stretched so I believe no he was not stretched. But yes would be good for some media to confirm.

Yeah they don't want to stretch him.

Yeah this has all the makings of him playing very well this year to secure another contract.
I'll believe it when I see it.

He's already made over $160 million in his career... doesn't cost much to play video games and sleep on an air matress.

I don't know? The difference a year of hard work could mean $40-80 million. That's a bunch of cheddar.

only this season. I think in the previous CBA you couldn't stretch a contract with only 1 year left. Might have changed in the new one. Or maybe that's reversed. Or maybe I'm talking out of my ass, as usual

The stretch has always been the length of the contract doubled plus a year. The stretch has to be done prior to the season so teams cant stretch an expiring contract during the season.

I would imagine the Blazers didn't officially buy-out Ayton till yesterday....new season, 1 year left on deal?

I don't believe it would have mattered if it was officially done anytime between Sunday when news broke to today. 2024-25 season was completed, paid out, and no longer able to be modified.

I remember the Kings stretching a contract so they could make an offer to Wes Matthews when he tore his Achilles. That was summer 2015 - so its been in its current form at least 10 years.

Pacers showing interest and remember the Pacers signed him to an offer sheet that the Suns stupidly matched but I really believe it will be between the Pacers and Lakers but we will see what is more important to him winning -- ROFL or Money cause I think the Pacers might be able to offer him more.

Did he clear waivers?
