B-Roy unhappy? (MERGED)

I'd sit Blake and insert Webster into the line-up, but that's just my suggestion. That way, you have your best player at the position he is his best at. Roy is going to get worn down covering SFs, and I don't see this system working against teams like Cleveland, Boston, the Lakers, Denver, or Orlando, to name a few.

You really think so, with Lakers? Wasn't Roy mainly played by Artest against Houston? I remembered Roy guarding him a ton during the playoffs and reg season. And what about them having to guard him?

I didn't say he was pissed. If the team wants a new starting SF, trade Roy to get one who can actually defend SFs.

LOL! Okay. Well so far, our back court has played pretty good D in the last two games. If they keep it up for 10 games or more, will you believe?

Just listening to Canzano. Apparently Roy did go to KP about this on friday. Maybe the blazers have outgrown Roy. Maybe that is what this is all about. If Roy can't grow with the team, why should the rest of the team suffer?

If you think Roy is as good of a SF as he is a SG, then there is no reason to continue our conversation.

Perhaps he can also back-up Oden at center.

No, it was actually Shane Battier that guarded Roy for the most part, with Artest taking it in stretches.

Exactly. Trade Roy and give Andre Miller his max extension. Miller is the future of this team.

It was actually Batum guarding Artest as well, with Roy guarding Battier. Nic did a solid job on Artest, however.

Def not what I was concluding with. Brandon Roy needs to grow up. That is all Im going to say about it.

I don't think the majority in here are expecting this lineup to last all season. I don't think Nate expects it to either. Which is why most of us aren't whining about Roy playing out of position as an undersized, unhappy, brooding SF who needs to be traded for a natural SF. We're just trying to appreciate the wins that potentially come from this lineup change, and will re-evaluate when an opponent it clearly won't work well against comes up.

I think it's obvious playing Steve Blake major minutes doesn't work in the playoffs.

Be gone, Steve. Be gone.

So then, why have it now?

Well ask Nate that question. It seems he is the one calling the shots. Oh wait, I forgot, you said everyone is blaming Roy for this.

Where did I say that? Some people are definitely blaming Roy in this thread, however. Some are even speculating that the team has out-grown him.

I dunno. It worked when he used it those two games. I'm not a big supporter of the lineup, but I do like wins. So was happy we won the last two games. Maybe the man who sees this team every day in practice, and has coached us to double digit win increases each of the last 3 seasons saw it as a better fit than just swapping the PG position right away.

Neither does playing Rudy, Batum, Joel, Greg and Outlaw.

Begone, all of you!

Re: B-Roy unhappy?

First of all, nobody on here should be making judgements on BROY or any player good or bad based on what that jackoff Quick says! He isn't around this team other then after practice or games.
This of course leads to the question...what's YOUR take HCP? Is Broy happy?

In other words, it's OK for Rudy to be upset, but Brandon Roy is being selfish if he is less-than-happy about being moved to SF.

I'm beginning to see a theme for the season starting. I never thought Roy would be the scapegoat, but it's appearing to look that way.

there

None of them launched a 30 foot running jumper with 13 seconds left in the game when we only needed a 2 though.......there is not getting it done, and then there is not giving yourself even the chance to get it done.:tsktsk:

Because it's working now. You use something until it doesn't work and then you adjust.

I get confused here. Is Nate inflexible today, or is he too flexible? This is a rhetorical question, btw, as I know you are not one who is constantly criticizing McMillan.

Exactly. I REALLY doubt that McMillan does this against the Lakers. But I am refreshed to see him try something new. If anything this might teach Roy that it really is possible to push the pace ONCE in a while.

But I'd happily accept a season of Roy averaging 10ppg and us winning 60 games. And I'd like to think that Roy would too. As I said, nobody thought Rashard Lewis was a PF until Stan Van Gundy figured that was the best way to maximize what he had. And I don't think anyone involved with Orlando is complaining now.

Other examples:
Boris Diaw as a center (for the Suns)
Shawn Marion as a PF (ditto)
Juan Jose Barea as a SG
Josh Smith as a PF (drafted as a SF)
Jeff Green as a PF (ditto)
Russell Westbrook as a PG
Dwayne Wade was supposed to be a PG

...and so on.
Why such rigidity about assigned positions? Don't teams just end up playing their best five anyway? Isn't that how we play in pickup games too?

Only Joel and Outlaw on that list played major minutes for the Blazers last year :ghoti:

The rest is tbd :devilwink:

Well, Oden would have played major minutes, but he couldn't stay in the game. :devilwink:

My post wasn't a pro- or anti-McMillan one. It was just a general principle about why you'd use something that you don't necessarily expect to use forever.

Edit: I posted before I saw your edit.
