Bollocks. Build a culture of trying to win each and every game. Half a dozen youngsters with experience working together with a winning attitude outweighs a couple extra ping pong balls, and it isn't even a little close.
You can do both.

It's the wrong way to look at it, but you have that opinion. Long term this year fucked us, this is fact.
Again, that's bollocks. Striving to lose is counterproductive, and not worth the cost inherent in delaying player development. Fuck the draft. Let the ping pong balls fall where they may.

I honestly think we hurt the development of our players far more this season than if we'd done the prudent thing and traded/sat the vets.

Both Scoot and Sharpe have had confidence issues thanks to playing with these vets (and for Billups), IMO. Even Deni had some stretches...

We’re in it. We need to win 5 games and need Kings to go 2-4. Their opponents are Hornets, Cavs, Pistons, Nuggets twice, Suns. They could easily lose the middle 4. They just lost to the Wizards. We play Bulls, Spurs, Jazz, Warriors, Lakers. The last 2 are tough but at home. Not worried about Suns. Their schedule is Celtics, Knicks, Warriors, Thunder, Spurs, Kings. We need them to go 3-3 or worse. There’s no way they go 4-2.

I really think we can do it! Stay positive King!

Nurk starting for Hornets. Kings can’t shoot. Hornets up 12-6.

3.5 games back with 4 games left = better luck next year

Unfortunately this season is going to end in what could be considered the worst case scenario. Not in the play in, not in great lottery seeding.

The only take away is the development of what will hopefully be a continued winning culture.

THIS EXACTLY

Unless we are sitting everyone, I don’t think we lose anymore games, so Sac just has to win one against Den, LAC or Pho to avoid us getting even worse lottery odds. Flagg is basically out, but the 7-8 pick is more valuable than the 9-10 pick

we have no chance at picks 5-7

we have a chance at:

1-4, 8-12 with 8th worst record
(roughly 25% top 4)
(roughly 65% 8 or 9)

1-4, 9-13 with 9th worst record
(roughly 20% top 4)
(roughly 75% 9 or 10)

you guys just eat sleep and breathe pessimism, it’s honestly impressive at this point. You got your lotto pick

Is it not reality? Did we not make the play-in AND not have a good chance at a good pick?

Thought so. It's reality. Embrace the win streak fucking it all up. That's reality.

Your post is delusional if it thinks this is the best case scenario.

Their "best case scenario" last year (24), after tanking, got them the 7th pick. They were the tied for the 3rd worst team.

the year before (23) their "best case scenario" got them the 3rd pick. They were the 5th worst team.

the year before (22) that their "best case scenario" got them the 7th pick. They were the 5th worst team.

The 2024 #1 pick was the 10th worst team. The worst team in the league got saddled with the 5th pick (and the year before, the worst team, the same team, got the 5th pick again).

It's not a guarantee that crazy shit won't happen.

We could have guaranteed a top 5 pick. GUARANTEED.

Now, we have a 20-25% chance at top 5 (even though we can't get #5)...

I respect your right to wait and see if anything crazy happens, on the condition that you agree with me if/when nothing crazy happens and the #1 pick goes to a bottom 5 team.

I'm at the point in my life where it is what it is. If it was supposed to happen it would. If it doesn't move on and adjust

If we hadn’t tanked last night, we’d be .5 game behind Suns and 2.5 behind Kings. Kings next five opponents are tough while we play Spurs and Jazz.

We will be fine. We have a great young core.
Players evolve and move rapidly in the NBA. Sharpe may yet emerge as a number one option fit for a contender, but if not, it’s pretty clear we have a great second and third option that still have growth potential, as it is.
We have assets, in talented players, if not now, they will turn into them as expiring contracts. We have picks we can trade.
Ayton/Ant/Williams/Grant/Thybulle, i don't project as part of the future and can be used to improve the core of
Scoot/Shae/Tou/Deni/Clingan/Walker(improving and on rookie contract).
Murray/Rupert/Walker can all be used in the right trade if needed, as well.

I think without moves and playing the young guys, next year we improve 7-10 wins on growth and development alone. Make the right trade for the missing pc and we might be a 10-15 game improvement with a decent amount of growth yet to be fulfilled.

We can trade picks and players to land that missing pc. We might use our pick and draft that missing pc.
Nothing is certain.
Enjoy the game and have fun, but to me, overall, we are on the right track.
