BFW addressed this in the most recent game thread.

Story gives you the cap numbers, and then contract details afterwards. His signing bonus is (iirc) paid all up-front, so even though this year's "cap number" is $10,825,000, you have to subtract the 375k annual cap hit for the bonus and give the full 1.5M bonus payment to this year. In actual cash, Nic will make $11,950,000, which is the highest of his contract. His last year (assuming no trade kicker) is $11,860,750 in payments.

He's playing at the level I long thought he was capable of. If he keeps it up, he is well worth his contract. I'm not yet ready to declare that his inconsistent ways are behind him.

Yes, BrianfromWA explained the details with regards to how Minnesota front loaded their offer sheet with a signing bonus and Jayps15 is also correct, I got the salary breakdown from HoopsHype. According to that site, Nic will be paid the following:

2012-13 - $11,950,000
2013-14 - $10,920,250
2014-15 - $11,390,500
2015-16 - $11,860,750

So yes, his current season's salary is the highest of the 4-year contract. Not by much over years 3 and 4, but over a million dollars more than next season.

The response can't be compared to contracts made before the new collective bargaining agreement. Compared to the others making that amount; should be a number 2 option on a team. But like I've said; so far he is proving me wrong. He is performing over his contract standards so far.
