No, my comment wasn't absurd at all. MickZagger said that there are no parrallels between the Mormon religion and Catholicism. I was merely pointing out that you can make fun of the Mormons all you want, but their religion hasn't killed millions of people.

You, on the other hand, are trying to compare an organized religion that people join to a color of skin that people are born with. If you don't see the absurdity in what you are trying to say, I don't know what to tell you.

It's absurd to associate the actions of the past to a particular group of people today, regardless of whether you're talking about race, sex, religion, etc, etc. It's absurd. You just want to fit it into the nice little box that blames religion.

No, you just want to go into hyper-defense mode. This is a thread about religions. One person is making fun of one religion, while defending his own religion because it's older. My point was, despite the Mormons being a little annoying and weird, they have yet to go on a murderous spree in the name of god.

Don't worry, he's just defensive because the organization that he chose to join is historically responsible for killing millions of people. It would be interesting to tally up the death toll that Catholicism has racked up. It would be an impressive kill count.

There are a lot of people that condemn the Catholic faith for worshiping Mother Mary instead of God.

I've always found that interesting as well, the way Catholics are treated. But mostly because they are the oldest surviving sect and they decided what books to include in the bible.
