I dont known that Nurk would get any offer over the full MLE even with a good season. Few teams have cap space and even fewer want a center. I can't find a team that makes sense.

Right now, I agree (I've had the same difficulty trying to figure out a Nurk trade that might make sense following a Simmons deal). That said, things can change over the course of a year. A trade, an injury, a retirement, and some team might suddenly find themselves interested in a center with Nurk's skillset.

It doesn't take much of a memory to recall that Dame has been being double double teamed for years. What he needs is someone he can rotate the ball to who can then attack the defense going downhill with a 4 on 3 advantage and make a good decision. Simmons it's a very good at that.

2. Simmons does not score in the 4th quarter.

I'm almost positive Portland has a player that ranks really high in 4th quarter scoring and being clutch.

3. Simmons is lazy and won't put in the work is work to become a better shooter.

Admittedly, it is something he needs to work on,l, but I also don't feel he has been used properly. But as for the work or effort part of the equation, it takes a tremendous amount of work and effort to be that good on defense and he is one of the league's elites.

There are certainly flaws that need to be addressed, but I'm not sure there would be a better place for him than under one who acquired the nickname Mr. Big Shot, or being with a leader who is as clutch as Dame.

Morey-on said there was a similar situation with another athlete that was as caustic and it worked out fine with that athlete rejoining his/her team. Who was it? I don't remember any situation as bad where said athlete came back and it is was all fine. Sounded like some serious bullshit to me.

That could also give Portland enough time to evaluate the progress of Nas. If he's making a jump, we could justify including RoCo or Nance (I think he's eligible to be traded at end of October).

I seriously doubt that Morey will take any CJ-based trade for reasons given earlier. I'm happy to be proved wrong, but I would be amazed. I say the Timberwolves work something out in the end (when Morey is pressured by higher ups to shit or get off the pot).

- Rivers got really frustrated with Simmons in the playoffs and threw him under the bus. Some of the blame was warranted. Some of it was completely unnecessary. Rivers has done this before, most recently with Paul George. He's like the worst form of Phil Jackson in playing games through the media. Completely two-faced, and Ben saw right through it.
- Simmons and Paul asked out in July after realizing this isn't going to work out.
- Word of their trade request got out and started reducing his trade value.
- Daryl Morey has historically been all about extracting value out of his players in trades. He sees them ONLY as assets and not people. He also wants to acquire stars, not trade them away for non-stars.
- Rich Paul continues to go on the media tour tanking Ben's value further.
- Morey and Doc have no choice but to do an about face to try to recoup the value.
- 3 months pass since the initial trade request and they're at a stalemate and every practice/game that Ben misses, he starts to look worse in the media.

I can't see any scenario where Simmons truly restores his trade value even if he comes back and plays. That ship has long passed and the longer Morey holds on (for what.... is unclear now that Dame is completely bought in yet again), the worse this looks for both sides.

This is also Rich Paul's M.O. He did the same with Anthony Davis in New Orleans where he started leaking stuff to the media to try to force their hand. I don't particularly care for it here because Ben is technically still under contract for four more years. Yet, if they do go through the proper channels and request a trade privately like they did in Philly for justifiable reasons, what recourse does the team have to oblige?

There's a huge problem from Morey's side and it's that they don't have a top shelf facilitator to initiate their offense without Ben or trading Ben for someone that can. So if they want to lose games with Seth bringing the ball up and initiating the offense or with Shake doing the same thing then they can try and call Ben's bluff but it's going to go badly for them. This is a team that will want the number one seed in the East again and every regular season win they can get. Every loss (if it comes to that) will give opposing GMs more and more leverage over Morey.

It just came out that the Cavs are making headway on an extension with Sexton and see him there long term. Unless DLo is coming over in a Minny deal that deal doesn't make the Sixers better and DLo is a worse fit than CJ. They really have limited options and the way the Sixers have handled this has been a complete clusterfuck.
