Right now, I agree (I've had the same difficulty trying to figure out a Nurk trade that might make sense following a Simmons deal). That said, things can change over the course of a year. A trade, an injury, a retirement, and some team might suddenly find themselves interested in a center with Nurk's skillset.I dont known that Nurk would get any offer over the full MLE even with a good season. Few teams have cap space and even fewer want a center. I can't find a team that makes sense.
I posted on the Dame requesting trade thread but I figure it's relevant here too

Maybe Aaron Rodgers?Tweedle dee & tweedle dum. Hope the press had their waders on. Morey-on said there was a similar situation with another athlete that was as caustic and it worked out fine with that athlete rejoining his/her team. Who was it? I don't remember any situation as bad where said athlete came back and it is was all fine. Sounded like some serious bullshit to me.
Most teams/players won't win a title. Doesn't mean it isn't fun to watch them win a bunch of games and sometimes have a "chance" of winning. I'd much rather ride out Dame/CJ than be a Kings fan or a Wolves fan. They don't have any fun. That said, I'd love to get KAT.

what does this sentence mean from Quick? we're interested in a CJ for Ben deal?
Whether that means a pursuit of Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons — the Blazers are interested at a one-for-one price — or a deal to beat the Feb. 10 trade deadline remains to be seen.
well, there's only one Blazer contract that fits a one-for-one deal
but Quick is much better at writing human interest stories than he is at trade speculation
1. KAT is not available (yet)
2. If KAT asks out, it won't be us that gets him
3. This is a GOOD THING because he is a Luh-OOZER.
This is hilarious. Philly media is vicious.
CJDame?
“I watched last night a player lead their team to victory where a thousand pounds of digital ink were spilled on how much he would never play for that team again,” Morey had said of the Green Bay Packers star who led a last-second win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night after looking destined for a divorce with the franchise just months ago. “Look, every situation is different, but we have a lot of optimism that we can make it work here. …Ben’s a great player, and we expect him back. We expect him to be a 76er.”
Cue the response.
“It’s total bullshit,” one source with knowledge of Simmons’ outlook said of Morey’s analysis.
Rivers’ suggestion that Simmons was shying away from the tough Sixers fanbase didn’t help much, either.
So no, in other words, nothing that was said in those candid Sixers media sessions appears to have helped this stalemate.
Yet of all the problem areas to explore, there’s none more unyielding and impossible to ignore than this: People who have intimate knowledge of how he sees this situation continue to insist that he’s done playing with Embiid. There’s nothing personal about this choice, it seems, but the 25-year-old Simmons has clearly decided that his career is better off without Embiid blocking the runways in the paint that he so badly needs to succeed.
As he sees it, sources say, the organization’s choice to build its basketball ecosystem around Embiid’s style simply isn’t conducive to the way he needs to play. So while Embiid insisted to reporters on Monday that he wants Simmons back, this much is clear: The feeling is not mutual.
“It has run its course,” the source said of their pairing.
Truth be told, sources say Simmons thought he would have been traded by now.
When he met with the Sixers brass at the Los Angeles home of his agent, Rich Paul, in August, telling managing partner Josh Harris in direct fashion that he no longer wanted to play for his club, the goal was to avoid this sort of mess. Sources say the Sixers had come equipped with all sorts of reasons that he should want to stay, and even supported the argument with a statistically based presentation featuring the success of the Embiid-Simmons pairing. But his view, his uneasy feelings about the problematic fit remained unchanged.
yeah, he's going to wait till a team decides to rebuild. He doesn't have to make a trade immediately as Ben's under contract.I say Morey holds out until at least a month into the regular season, hoping for a team to start poorly and be motivated to trade.
(He's hoping that team is the Blazers.)
That could also give Portland enough time to evaluate the progress of Nas. If he's making a jump, we could justify including RoCo or Nance (I think he's eligible to be traded at end of October).I say Morey holds out until at least a month into the regular season, hoping for a team to start poorly and be motivated to trade.

I seriously doubt that Morey will take any CJ-based trade for reasons given earlier. I'm happy to be proved wrong, but I would be amazed. I say the Timberwolves work something out in the end (when Morey is pressured by higher ups to shit or get off the pot). That could also give Portland enough time to evaluate the progress of Nas. True. But time might not be as much an ally as he thinks.yeah, he's going to wait till a team decides to rebuild. He doesn't have to make a trade immediately as Ben's under contract.
And i hope to win the lottery. About the same odds.I say Morey holds out until at least a month into the regular season, hoping for a team to start poorly and be motivated to trade.

And Morey-on does look constipated.I seriously doubt that Morey will take any CJ-based trade for reasons given earlier. I'm happy to be proved wrong, but I would be amazed. I say the Timberwolves work something out in the end (when Morey is pressured by higher ups to shit or get off the pot).
Laker Wes doesn't do his homework.
There's a huge problem from Morey's side and it's that they don't have a top shelf facilitator to initiate their offense without Ben or trading Ben for someone that can. So if they want to lose games with Seth bringing the ball up and initiating the offense or with Shake doing the same thing then they can try and call Ben's bluff but it's going to go badly for them. This is a team that will want the number one seed in the East again and every regular season win they can get. Every loss (if it comes to that) will give opposing GMs more and more leverage over Morey.here's a summary and my read on this:
- Morey has been trying to trade Ben from the moment he got to Philly last year.
- Rivers got really frustrated with Simmons in the playoffs and threw him under the bus. Some of the blame was warranted. Some of it was completely unnecessary. Rivers has done this before, most recently with Paul George. He's like the worst form of Phil Jackson in playing games through the media. Completely two-faced, and Ben saw right through it.
- Simmons and Paul asked out in July after realizing this isn't going to work out.
- Word of their trade request got out and started reducing his trade value.
- Daryl Morey has historically been all about extracting value out of his players in trades. He sees them ONLY as assets and not people. He also wants to acquire stars, not trade them away for non-stars.
- Rich Paul continues to go on the media tour tanking Ben's value further.
- Morey and Doc have no choice but to do an about face to try to recoup the value.
- 3 months pass since the initial trade request and they're at a stalemate and every practice/game that Ben misses, he starts to look worse in the media.
I can't see any scenario where Simmons truly restores his trade value even if he comes back and plays. That ship has long passed and the longer Morey holds on (for what.... is unclear now that Dame is completely bought in yet again), the worse this looks for both sides.
This is also Rich Paul's M.O. He did the same with Anthony Davis in New Orleans where he started leaking stuff to the media to try to force their hand. I don't particularly care for it here because Ben is technically still under contract for four more years. Yet, if they do go through the proper channels and request a trade privately like they did in Philly for justifiable reasons, what recourse does the team have to oblige?
I think it's only going to get uglier.
