If you're Morey you're used to people lying, so it wouldn't help anyway.
He can interpret it however he wants but Dame is firm on his stance about remaining in Portland. And the shenanigans he tries to pull (by hiring Beckner, etc) are just shameful at this point.

Once again, Kevin O'Connor cited yesterday that hire as a sign of Morey supposedly luring Dame to demand a trade to Philly. LOL, these guys are idiots if they think that would sway Dame even the slightest bit. In fact, I am nearly 100% sure it would have the opposite effect if he learned his guy only got the job as an ulterior motive rather than on his own merits.

I agree

not only have Morey and the 76ers alienated Simmons, I'd think they have alienated Dame, at least a little. And if the reports of Morey's asking prices for Simmons are accurate, he's probably alienated some other GM's. I also think player pay attention to this stuff and I'd guess that most players in the league believe that the 76ers' management, coach, and franchise player have treated Simmons shabbily. I'd think Simmons rep has taken some hits but I'd bet the 76ers rep has taken more

I mean... the Blazers signed his no-talent cousin for a 2nd consecutive two-way. Not to mention, the company for which Dame was a national spokesman (Biofreeze) showed up on our jerseys for 3 straight years. If we're really gonna play the nepotism game, I don't think Morey even has a chance in hell.

And the idea that Dame would team up with another MVP caliber player and potentially play 2nd fiddle is nonsense to begin with-- it just goes against his ethos. Ignoring the fact that if we were to trade Dame, it would be for a complete rebuild and not for Simmons. I think if he does ask out, it will be to go to a team where he can be the clearcut #1 but also have foundational pieces to build around, or a FA destination where he can draw guys in more successfully (like NY).

Keljin Blevin says 'Hello'.... :smiley-pat:

When Morey was asked at the pc about chances of Ben coming back, even with all the hype that he's not coming back, Morey interjects, well a certain star just returned to his team when things looked bleak. Again, for him to throw that in there tells me he trying to convinced Ben and his agent that he'd be willing to trade him out west or wherever if he at least comes back to start the season. Thats the what got Rogers back to GB, imo.

I do wonder if Morey sees Kyrie at or near the same level of player as Beal (for whom he'd supposedly trade Simmons). They're both multi-time all-stars, both anti-vax, but Kyrie can actually run the point. A Kyrie (+ ??) for Simmons deal could make sense, except of course that it's intra-division.

It's staggering how much shit is being attributed to Simmons without the guy ever actually opening his own mouth and talking to the media.

"Shrug" Instead of saying anything he has his agent leak things. He gets his point across while maintaining plausible deniability.

For Kyrie I would think the Sixers would have to give up a lot more than Simmons. Simmons, Shake and a couple firsts.

Yeah, no way he trades him to Nets. I do think he will want a legit PG though and Sac Town has Fox and some. I see SAC doing something with Ben as they could give up FOX and not be hurt.

Yep, my motor bones tell me that Ben will end up in Sacramento next week on Wednesday.
Fox, Jones & Metu for Ben
Simmons would own Sacramento if he played his cards right.

Motor bones?

i don't think Simmons has that kinda value.

If you had both Fox and Haliburton and you could acquire Simmons for one of them an some for salary, wouldn't you do it. Heck, they also drafted another point guard.
I put a really high value on Simmons as a PF that can be a secondary facilitator (a Giannis/Draymond hybrid). I don't think everyone sees him that way and the Kings know they can't get him for just one of those guys but a package surrounding one of those guys and the report is they just don't think that Simmons is worth it or that Morey has the leverage to demand that. I'm pretty sure that the Kings are looking to upgrade their starting 4 with Bagley and Hield going out in a trade. I think if they can't do that then they'll roll with what they have hoping a year of development with so much young talent gets them contending for a spot in the playoffs.

If I was them and could get Simmons for Fox and Bagley and that's it, I'd do it in a heartbeat but again, I have a high valuation of Simmons and what he could be. I think Haliburton, Hield, Barnes, Simmons and Holmes would be a starting lineup that would make the playoffs especially with their rookie coming off the bench in the back court, Tristan Thompson being their backup big and having Moe and Metu coming off the bench too.

I seriously doubt anyone in Simmons' camp said this. I bet they just don't want a role like he had in Philly where he's just setting other guys up.

The article was by Kevin O'Conner at The Ringer. Is he a guy who just pulls nonsense out of his ass?

None of them pull stuff out of their asses, they get a quote from a guy that knows someone and run with it. Did we learn nothing from the Dame situation? Everyone including the Ringer was reporting that Dame was days away from requesting a trade and nothing could have been further from the truth... as far as we know. I'm just saying that I doubt Simmons wants to play on a team that sucks, I also doubt that in his situation he's trying to eliminate any good options. I imagine as long as he has a prominent role that he'd be happy just to be done with this shit and collecting his fat checks.

What I was saying is it's pretty consistent across multiple reports including this one, that he doesn't want the same role with his next team as he has had with the Sixers. He could have preferences like wanting to play in California and wanting to be the number one guy but I sincerely doubt that those are requirements but I don't know... it's just what seems logical.
