he might make a solid 2nd star, but I don't know that he should be a 2nd or even 3rd option on offense
I’ve said this many times and I’ll say it again. Ben Simmons (and the Sixers) have played their best at the end of Ben’s rookie year. Embiid was out with an eye injury and the team was built around Ben with shooters like Ilyasova and Belinelli around him. They won 16 games in a row. It’s why Ben beat out Donovan Mitchell for ROTY. And Mitchell was awesome that year. Also- in the 2019 playoffs, Embiid missed a game and Simmons led the team to a fun win with 31 points and 9 rebounds. Finally, when Simmons was out hurt in the 2020 playoffs, the Sixers were swept in the first round. I know it’s a scorching hot take but if I were the Sixers, I would build around Ben and trade Embiid. For the reasons I stated and Ben is younger with less (not no) injury concerns.

Personally I think the Kings would be foolish to trade for Simmons. They are starting to put together a good core that will carry them for quite a while. They need one or two more significant pieces and they are set to have a solid team.
Why take the chance on a head case?

For the record i don't want Simmons here either so i guess that holds true across the board.

CJ just released a pod.

CJ is back after Portland’s Media Day talking about gearing up for the regular season. Preparing with new teammates, new coaches, and new plays heading into the season. Plus, 30th birthday celebrations, and an a trip to the Cleveland sidelines to watch the Browns take on the Bears. Then CJ dishes on the latest vaccine situations in the NBA and how his role as the NBPA President factors in, and addresses rumors about a Ben Simmons trade. Plus, Klay Thompson looks like he could be back on the court soon, and 2k ratings are out!

From Jake Fischer aka Baby Woj.

Multiple team officials B/R contacted mentioned the possibility of a Nets-76ers blockbuster that would swap Irving for the disgruntled Ben Simmons, citing a natural solution for the league's two buzziest controversies.

Yet several league sources with knowledge of the situation strongly pushed back on the notion that either Irving or the Nets are looking to make such a move. "Kyrie came to Brooklyn to win a championship alongside Kevin Durant," one veteran executive told B/R. James Harden's confidants, sources said, have communicated they expect Irving to be part of Brooklyn for the foreseeable future.

Simmons is an awful fit in Brooklyn. And Irving is a bigger headache than Simmons lol.

For those of us that don't feel like listening, how did CJ address the Simmons trade rumors?

He said Simmons is possibly justified in wanting more space w/o Embiid and him asking out and holding out is nothing new. As far as trades involving him, he's unfazed by them and is grateful for everything Jody/teammates/previous coaching staff gave him. His goal is to give it his all and try to win a title, but is unbothered if he were to be traded.

OK. Time to trade him now.
I'm sure he has a desire to see what he can become in a lead guard spot (instead of being 2nd fiddle to Dame).

i think the ball is in morey's court on this front at the moment, and i'm fully on board with neil holding his ground firmly on a 1 for 1 swap. With simmons' value cratering, there is no need to outbid yourself.

Yeah that coming from CJ seems like he's been informed that the team is willing to move him for Simmons. I imagine that between Morey and Olshey it may be coming down to if the Blazers are willing to give up Nas and/or picks along with CJ which if we've identified that we want Simmons bad enough to give up CJ we should be willing to go the rest of the way.

If Simmons accepted a Giannis/Dray hybrid role on this team and Nurk could make 1 of 3 a game from three, this offense would be beautiful. Replacing CJ with Simmons in the rotation and starting lineup would take this defense from one trying to get into the middle of the league, to one that would compete for best in the league.

If that happened, I'd be looking at finding any way to trade Nurk for Christian Wood. He'd be a much better fit.

I will say that Nurk is just as mobile and big as BroLo. Nurk's shot is also nice. If he could just hit 1 of 3 corner threes a game, like Lopez does, I don't think there'd be a reason for that trade... although I would still make it.

Give Houston a first round pick or two I bet they do the trade.

Although I don't think they care if they get Nurk or a salary filling scrub so it might make more sense to involve a 3rd team. Its hard to find a team that would want Nurk, there isn't demand or openings for centers.

I don't see how there will be any activity on the Simmons trade front until December 15th. At that time trade restrictions lift so it will open up a lot more offers, as well as the possibility some teams struggle and an all star becomes available.

I don't see how a CJ Simmons trade happens during the season.

If CJ plays great I bet Neil won't want to trade him for a guy sitting on his couch.

If CJ struggles the 76ers won't want to settle for him.

apparently ben bought this house in LA for 17.5 mil in July . i can see why he doesn't want to leave.

good lord, this is amazing.

Morey is the guy who bought GME at like $200, watched it go up to like $350 and didn't sell, watched it tank and then climb and then tank and then climb and he's refusing to sell. Eventually the bottom will drop out and his stock will be worth $20.

It's just funny, Embiid taking these shots are full of revisionist history. Jimmy Butler had one foot out the door and it was well known that he was going to Miami the moment Kawhi hit that game winner against Philly. It had nothing to do with management catering to Ben instead. Still fun to watch that team implode. No one deserves it more than Doc/Morey.

Morey wants only Dame and won't budge, for better or worse.
He will wait to see if Dame wants out. But even then, Portland could do much much better than Simmons if it's rebuild time. Why would Portland rebuild around Simmons, Daryl?

This was inevitable
I said if Morey is smart he'd have a deal done before training camp because this shit would happen and Morey would lose more leverage. Low and behold.

The guy really needs to make the best trade he sees out there and knock this shit off. If he made the CJ+ trade he would have a team that again would be playing for the number one seed in the East but this time wouldn't have to worry about scoring droughts because the offense would be so balanced. Starting CJ, Thybulle, Green, Harris and Embiid would be really nice plus you'd have Seth in a LouWill type role, Milton, Maxey, Korkmaz, Niang and Drummond off the bench.

If he wants to be not as smart he can do the same thing with D'Angelo Russell but he should do one of those two trades now and stop the circus he is causing around his team.
