he wants to go somewhere with a social scene and Portland was supposedly not up to his snuff per a report earlier in the summer. whether it’s true, who knows?
that Jason Dumas report has already been refuted a few times by more reliable sources (especially closer to Rich Paul). I dunno if this new thing comes from a different source.

I'm actually low-key excited about McLemore without trying to convince myself he's more than a practice body. I also really like him also if we do in fact pull the trigger on a Simmons trade.

Yeah, my guess he is on the outside looking in, in terms of playing time right now. One too many shooting guards.
But as we all know, injuries happen. So he does give us that extra depth.

You have to lean awfully heavy on Nas and Ant being better and nance being the missing piece to hold the bench together to see us picking up more than what I previously suggested 2-3 wins. Tell me which WCF teams we were behind last year we will vault ahead of. Also, you don't think say the NOP will be even better? DEN when they get Murray back with a rising Michael Porter Jr.? I know it's fun to mock the age of the Lakers, but they are utterly stacked. I could see us being better than Dallas despite them having an easier division, but I certainly don't see us being better than the Lakers who finished behind us last year. GSW may have some health this year and Wiseman and Wiggins both learning their system and improving their games, especially Wiseman. I could see us treading water and perhaps maintaining our 6th place finish. I could also see us in the Play-in again.

What I don't see with the current roster composition, is being better than Utah, Denver, Phx, Clippers or the Lakers. I also think Jah Morant and the young Grizzlies could really find another gear. When I look at the West I just don't see us doing better than 5th at best and we could even end up in the play-in. So, yes we might be better, but are we enough better to make a difference in standings? I just don't see it with up-and-coming teams combined with veteran teams who will be healthy to start this year.

We are definetely better than the Clippers, Kawhi is out the whole season.

I'd put Utah and Phoenix ahead of us. Denver maybe. I think the Lakers will be a mess although if healthy LBJ + AD yes are tough.

The big variable is the impact of the new coaching and injuries. It gives the Blazers a lot of variance. There could be injuries to Portland or to other west teams. After 20 games I expect we will have a much better idea on the coaching impact.

We might be able to add some bench depth for the playoffs as we did a couple years ago with Hood and Kanter midseason, if we don't get production from Ant/Little or have an injury.

None of the teams in the west look dominant, like the Warriors of a few years ago, or Brooklyn right now. So while the Blazers could be ranked behind Utah and Phoenix, they could easily improve during the year and win a playoff series against any of them.

Nobody thought Phoenix was good this time last year.

They played very well in the bubble and they added Chris Paul. I didn't expect them to go to the Finals, but I definitely thought they'd be good.

I missed that Kawhi was out for the season. That indeed is a game changer. I still don't see us being a team that gets past the second round with the current roster, but would love to either be proven wrong or see the big league trade finally happen that gets us to the next level.

6 months is about the earliest recovery time for an ACL injury, and Kawhi had just a "partial" tear. But for serious ACL surgeries, it can be a full year for recovery. And if any player will take his time returning it's Kawhi

Im thinking Ben will come back after pre season with an agreement to be traded before the deadline.
Morey doesn't just spew hopeful scenarios (GB & Rogers) unless its part of his strategy.

Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey went down that path recently when he cited Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ reported unhappiness in Green Bay. That squabble was a dominant storyline all summer only to see Rodgers eventually suit up and play well this season. Morey’s stance makes some sense, especially with Simmons having four years left on his deal, and sources around the league maintain that if there is one NBA executive who has the stomach to endure the outside noise and circus that can come with a prolonged standoff, it is Morey.

lol this nonsense again. i would wager on us being better than Philly to start the season.

Why hasn't Simmons been traded yet?
The simple answer? Because Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal aren't available yet.

Morey has proven three things over his long, successful run as an executive: He isn't afraid of awkward situations, he isn't going to make a deal for the sake of making one and he is constantly trying to swing trades for stars.

Like several other teams around the league, the 76ers are closely monitoring the Lillard situation in hopes that he asks out of Portland. Earlier this summer, Lillard said he didn't feel like the Blazers had a championship roster and wanted to see improvements. Portland has had a quiet offseason in terms of free-agent additions.

Until there's any movement there -- or another team comes in with a huge offer for Simmons separately -- it seems likely Simmons will remain on Philadelphia's roster for the foreseeable future.

Morey should be fired. He was propped up by Harden for so long.

Mr. ANALytics is too smart for his own good. Which obviously clashes with common sense. This situation lingering over the Sixers will only continue to fester, and this could become a lost season for them. Get the best offer now and move on. Embiid and his injury history are likely on a time table.

If this is right, it's another reason why he won't take CJ even if he's the best offer they get.

i think the national media still hasn't realized yet that dame isn't asking out this year.
Hoping to create noise and pressure with the eye of Dame being moved to a Big Market. Can you imagine how the Media would treat Dame (Mr. "It") in a Big Market? They'd go absolutely apeshit for Dame in a big market, APE SHIT. That's what they are all drooling over, the soft reporting and worshipping. Also, fuck them and double fuck Morey that piece of shit. I'm about ready to move on from Simmons, not because I don't want him, but because I want Morey to have his team absolutely implode over this and I don't want to give him a way out.

The way Nurk looked tonight, able to hit the three and not able to really facilitate the offense... now more than ever I think he could play a BroLo type of role next to Simmons being asked to play like Giannis. I would just love to see a rotation of Dame, Norm, RoCo, Simmons, Nurk, Nance, Ant, Snell and Zeller. Trade CJ, Nas and a pick tomorrow and bring in Ben.

I find it mildly irritating that we are never mentioned in any actual rumors. The news du jour:

That doesn't concern me too much. If we are actually after him, I think this is how we would do it. What if, Simmons and his agent, looking at those teams, would prefer the Blazers? Let's say Portland has already made an offer of McCollum straight up for Simmons. Now they have a deal with Simmon's agent, that if some other team makes a better offer, he will tell them and they will up the ante. Simmon's agent cooperates here because this is the team they want to go to, and they also want his new team to give up the minimum of assets for him. It's 100% speculation, but it makes some sense to me, and I think it's how Olshey might play it. (Of course this assumes that Philly will let the agent know what offers they are getting or that he has other sources that will let him know....)

Morey won’t take cj, too proud to admit defeat. Portland would be better off taking the gamble on him imho. Cj is a pure shooter plain and simple and Portland needs elite defense and that something extra that Ben provides, elite ball handling playmaking and going to the rim

if after a preseason game Dame is wanting out, he never wanted in.

and if after a preseason game, the national media is trolling that out already, they suck at their job.
and how engaged was dame last night with the youngins? dude was coaching and cheering the entire second half from the bench. And read his comments after the game, where he was super optimistic. Ridiculous notion that his mindset supposedly changed after one preseason game.

is this going to be a nightly occurrence now whenever we lose? I get it from outside media, but from people here? disappointing.

Dame will be professional and say the right things in public. That doesn't mean he is happy with how the off-season went. There is a lot more involved here than one preseason game.
