Zach Lowe pod with Bobby marks today…again, they mentioned that each side thinks the other should add stuff to the CJ-Simmons swap.

depressing that our idiotic gm thinks CJ is one of the best guards in the league and it’s preventing a deal from happening.

While I tend to agree that Olshey over-rates CJ, that doesn't change the fact that Simmons' trade value is low and getting lower. Why should we bail Morey out?

Sad. Add anybody but Dame/Powell/Nurk to the Simmons deal and get it done. Even if it costs us Simons. With Simmons and possibly Smith Jr, we don’t need another back up PG.

That's what Morey is waiting for.
Give him what he wants then. I'd easily give CJ, Nas and a future first for Simmons right now. Let Morey feel like he won the deal and meanwhile we get a player who can transform our defense and give us a complementary second option to Dame if we put Simmons in a Giannis/Draymond hybrid role. This is smart, especially with the way Nurk's outside shot looked last night.

Dame, Norm, RoCo, Simmons, Nurk, Nance, Ant, Snell, Zeller is far superior to what we're running with right now.

I agree, although I’d love to find a way to give them Simons instead of Nas.

I mean, if Simmons really wanted to screw Philly he would just show up and completely sandbag games ala Harden. He could be even more deliberate, and he'll still get paid for it. Bonus is that the team trading for him will probably not even have to give up as much.

wut?

does Olshey think Philly should have to add picks or something?

I wouldn’t be opposed to that but Im not sure adding Naz and a pick will do it?

Id probably give up RoCo if thats what it takes but would want something back.

RoCo is the perfect SF with Simmons at PF. They get a bench player or pass. Simmons could end up being a massive headache. My hope is that this would be a Chris Webber scenario where at first he doesn’t want to go to a small market team like Portland but then falls in love with the Organization. One can hope.

Nance can play SF if RoCo goes out in trade.

Exactly! If the idea is to improve the defense the way to do it is to add Simmons to RoCo.

Pacers just made a minor deal to get more room under the tax. I know that ownership group has never had interest in paying tax. Wonder if its Ben related

I don’t see why Morey wouldn’t accept CJ and fan favorite RoCo.
DON'T TRY TO UNDERSTAND DARYL! His brain is too large for us humans to fathom.

Also, remember RoCo cost us two first rounders that turned into very decent players, so I'm pretty sure Olshey is reluctant to part with him.

I think Olshey was hoping Morey would've taken Nas by now, which is why Quick was told Nas was the best player in camp. But now games have actually started and the cat's out of the bag.

I'm on the poll question that started this thread saying CJ and RoCo is what I'd be willing to give up but when someone posts that the rumor is that Olshey and Morey are arguing over which one of them should have to give up additional assets after CJ and Simmons, it makes me think we could get away with CJ, Nas and a first. The fact is if RoCo goes out, it would only make sense for Thybulle to come back which I'll take... we'd be looking at a lot of rotating PF duties between Simmons and Nance but I'd be willing to make that shit work. I just don't know if we have to.

The other thing about this if it drags out is Nance. We might ship that dude out as fast as he came in. CJ and Nance for Simmons and lets say Paul Reed would work in a few weeks.

My thing is if I can get a starting lineup of Dame, Norm, either RoCo or Nance, Simmons and Nurk with Ant, Nas, Snell and Zeller coming off the bench, I know that team is way better than what we have right now... if I can keep Nance on the bench instead of Nas, I'd love that.

Seriously people that don't want Simmons are not thinking about how great of a defender he is, how huge and freakishly athletic he is, how well he finishes at the hoop, how good his handle is and how good of a passer he is. There is no one on this roster after Dame that is in the same universe as Simmons is as a game changer that's why he's a three time all star, two time all defense and one time all nba player. Olshey needs to do what he has to and get the deal done.

Not really, I don’t like Nance as a SF, I think he’s way better as PF playing against second teamers.
Nance can't defend the 3?!? You're kidding right? The guy is quick and smart, he can (as he just said in an interview) defend the 3, 4 or 5 easily. So the guy could play forward with Simmons who has played every position on the court. Dame, Norm, Simmons (if you can't handle Nance at the 3), Nance and Nurk is a much better starting lineup defensively than what we're putting out there right now with the 6'3" Norm playing SF for us.

If I'm Simmons, and I can handle the heat (a major if), I simply report and completely sandbag it. Frankly, causing a major stink on the scene would get him out Philly faster, and with his money... as he technically wouldn't be breaching his contract,

And if I'm Philly, at this point, I'd almost be more apprehensive of Simmons actually returning (and the far worse distraction that would cause).

That’s pretty much what Harden did to get out of Houston.
