Just think how good a passer, slasher, defender, dunker you have to be to make the NBA (and become an All Star) without being able to shoot! That's what the naysayers don't see. He is super elite in those aforementioned skills.
This is a really good point.
My problem is that his coach and players around him have given up a bit. That leads me to believe it's more about the player than the skills.

He sure sounded like he'd moved away from CJ being that second star on a contender at the presser when Stotts' firing was announced but Olshey has had a lot of time to talk himself back into it sense then. We'll have to wait and see. .

I don't think that was the biggest takeaway from that debacle of a press conference

I think the biggest takeaway, by far, was that he believed the roster wasn't the problem and that different coaching would fix it. Everything he has done since that PC has matched that takeaway

I'd be floored if Olshey ever traded CJ

Interesting stat from the Jacked Ramsey podcast with Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague:

With Ben Simmons on the floor, the 76'ers shot 40% from the 3-pt line.
With Ben Simmons NOT on the floor, the 76'ers shot 28% from the 3-pt line.

That is a dramatic stat and a significant difference. Wonder what he would do for Dame, Simons, Powell, Nance, Little, etc?

Easiest 3 point shot in basketball kick out 3 where players have chance to set their feet. Usually come from offensive rebounds but with a guy like Simmons he creates the open kick out 3’s

been a long time since we’ve had a guy who makes the game easier for his teammates by setting them up for open shots. Nothing against Dame just not his role

Good point. I think some Sixers fans see Curry in a bigger role though. After the playoffs last year, they consider Curry to be their 2nd best player.
I really liked Curry not as starter but super sub. To me he’s a diminishing returns player the more time he plays over 25-30 minutes the less effective he is, just opinion no facts to back it up

I something like this might happen (has to wait until October because of recent trades of participants, and the picks can't be consecutive):

This way the Raptors get to offload Dragic, he gets to play for a contender, Philly gets two PGs to replace Simmons but also get a ton of picks from Minny to help in the pursuit of Dame (Morey hopes) - perhaps then bundled with Maxey, Thybulle and the like.

Ben Simmons has followed one new person on IG in the last few days: Damian Lillard.

safe to say talks have been happening
and it happened after Dame followed him last week. Maybe Dame is trying to get in touch w/ him through DMs?

also looks like Dame is on his honeymoon in Italy atm.

It just makes a lot of sense for both teams. Kinda like the Nance trade. If Morey is finally coming down from his ego trip, it's possible that serious discussions are finally happening.

Just got an update this morning.

Philly is calling Klutch's bluff on Maxey. That said, Philly does realize they will likely have to trade Simmons and that he likely won't play another game with Philly. They come to that agreement. It seems like they are willing to hold out and want to see how things shake out. If they are getting picks, they want a lack of chemistry to get the best possible picks. He says the four teams that have the best shot at Simmons are POR, MIN, CLE, and DAL. Teams outside of the mix are TOR, SAC, and Utah. As of right now, the best players available are McCollum, Sexton, Porzingis, Hield, Ingles, Clarkson, and FVV. What would intrigue PHI is Fox, Haliburton, Siakam, Okoro, Mobley, Barnes, Lillard, Covington, Russell, and O.G. A.

He basically said, right now, the current market seems a tad underwhelming compared to around the draft. This could be a massive miscalculation from PHI. They really didn't think Simmons would sit out and not report even if they knew it could happen.

Based on what he is saying, he thinks PHI will wait till DEC to make a trade no matter what just to see what the best offer is at that time. Maybe someone is desperate and the picks have more meaning then. PHI is playing with fire because Maxey is someone they value a lot and this is really screwing up any potential moves for Simmons.

I did not hear any details of Miami or San Antonio in the mix for Simmons. I've already said LAL and ATL are out on Simmons but both were in during draft season. Most of the teams who were in on Simmons still are in. DAL is a new addition, they are in as well and willing to trade KP and picks for Simmons.

Almost forgot, Houston is a team that's also outside the mix but their limited in what they are willing to offer. I heard it's not much value.

Dame-CJ-Simmons-Nance-Nurk

Holy hell. That's possibly the best starting five in the league this side of Brooklyn. I need to check the rules on when we can deal Powell. Some conflicting info on that since he was signed using Bird rights.

So basically we have the best player available for Phi. Morey is a moron. He's killing his team.

CJ for Simmons is the move that makes the most sense. Im not sure trading our two best perimeter defenders is wise even getting Simmons back. Not to mention I can’t see the Sixers doing that. That said, yeah do it and figure it out afterwards. Id definitely rather not wait until December.

don't overthink it. If we can land simmons without giving up Dame/CJ/Nurk, you do that every day of the week.

that said, it is quite the pipedream.

I'm still not sure Simmons and Nurk can play together. I don't think I would trade Nurk right away because I want to see what happens though.

I also don't see how Norm fits their need. If they're giving up their primary ball handler, they will need to replace him with a primary ball handler.
