Smart can't be traded all season. Just signed an extension.
if they get simmons, it doesnt matter really, as simmons wouldnt be there for one season

they can move smart next season and continue to build the team, but anyway, brown & simmons trade would be good for both parties, for the celtics cause they need a point guard (i think i read somewhere that he wants to play a point guard) and also cause tatum & brown are a bad fit, neither is a playmaker and theyre not willing passers, even smart called them out publicly... and for the 76ers, cause they would get a scorer in brown, but im not sure if he can play defense

given shams charania reported it, its probably true and it means brad stevens realized that tatum & brown wont work and is willing to do something about it, unlike neil olshey whos still happy with dame & cj mccollum, but there might be one little difference and its that celtics are trying to create a championship team and blazers are just happy being a playoff team and dame & cj mccollum duo proved to be good enough to take the team to the playoffs every year

it could also be that the Celtics decided that Tatum and Brown were too redundant in their styles and usage; then decided to choose the better player. It might be debatable who is better between the two because Brown has been much better this season so far. But it easily could be that after a couple of years, Boston has decided Tatum and Brown are too much alike in strengths, styles, and weaknesses and they needed a more complementary roster

if so, good on them for making the choice after 2-3 years that the Blazers haven't made in 7 years

not sure how well Simmons and Smart will fit though

Yeah, there is that too. I haven't followed Boston closely, but I recall some tension on Brown's part about Tatum getting more shot attempts. While Simmons likes to get his touches, he's not going to be upset over Tatum getting more shots. Simmons could be a much more complementary co-star to Tatum, if things work out.

If that's the response from the 76ers, that's kinda weird.

Not "we hope ben gets his help for his mental health concerns" or whatever, but "oooh boy, his agent mentioned that he might play for us! See Sixer fans, we were right!"

They know Simmons/Paul are full of shit.

what a bizarre article. it's hard to take rich paul seriously with some of those quotes.
Citing John Wall as an example of how ownership should act is going to turn off every owner in the league. "You should pay my client $40M+ per year not to play for your team!"

A multi-year thing? Are they really willing to throw away a prime year of Embiid?

What a mess, Simmons hasn’t stepped on the court still this season, the Sixers only want to trade him for a said 30 players they have a list of…this is sure going to end well for both parties lol

Wonder if Kyrie Irving would play for the 76ers. Irving should fulfill Morey's desire for a true star, he can play in Philadelphia without a vaccine shot and Simmons would fit in pretty well with two perimeter scoring superstars (allowing him to occupy more of the paint when he doesn't have the ball) plus he'd upgrade their defense. If Irving is willing, this trade seems like the most obvious one.

At least they've gotten a sense of reality back, thinking they're getting Damian, Harden or Beal for him is just super unrealistic. Superstars are rarely traded for other superstars. Especially if one desperately wants to leave a team.

The last 2 trades involving Westbrook, he wasn't traded for a superstar (Wall is good, but he's not a superstar). Harden wasn't traded for a superstar. Chris Paul was only traded for a superstar ONCE (Westbrook), but at that point I'm not sure he was a Superstar anymore.

Reality just isn't in their corner.

Simmons is fading into obscurity. Will he ever really once again be an all-star?

Just waiting for Simmons to come back, get boo’d, then say it’s his mental health again lol

He was last year's runner up for DPOY. He averaged 14.3ppg on 55.7% from the field, 7.2rpg, 6.9apg, 1.6spg, .6bpg and only 3topg. Pretty impressive but most of those numbers are worse than he'd done the season before when Doc wasn't coaching him.

trying to rekindle the interest? :)

i dunno. Price is too high. Nas is coming into his own.
if they wont take cj and roco for him….

Report: 76ers, Pistons talked bringing Jerami Grant back to Philly in Simmons trade

The team has engaged in ongoing discussions with the Detroit Pistons to acquire Grant, another forward, a young player, and a draft pick in exchange for Simmons, league sources said. One source said power forward/center Kelly Olynyk and second-year swingman Saddiq Bey were mentioned as players who could be included in a possible deal. However, a source said the Pistons are unlikely to include Bey, a Villanova product, or Olynyk.

A person close to the Sixers said the team would want a more high-profile player than Grant in exchange for Simmons. The source added that the team hasn’t spoken to the Pistons lately.

But multiple sources said the Sixers indeed have, and that the discussions were centered around Grant.

I've never heard that they won't take cj and roco. I've heard that if CJ is included that Olshey is only interested in a one for one deal. I think if we were willing to take only filler back like Reed and Joe or Springer... and if we added one future first, then we'd get that deal done. I like Ben's game a lot and think if he was put in a role somewhere in between Dray and Giannis that he would be a big star next to Dame, so I would really like that deal.

so much rumor and speculation and some who run with rumors as facts i honestly have no clue. :)

Im just sayin if he doesn't want cj and roco id rather pursue ingram or someone else.

Why pursue players that aren't available.

If we could land Ingram for CJ and RoCo today and can't get Simmons for that... I'd pull the trigger on Ingram for sure. Ingram hasn't hit his prime yet, he's long, athletic and can shoot really well. I think Chauncey could improve his defense. Yeah, I'd rather have Simmons because he's a monster defensively and I don't think the Sixers have ever put him in the right position to unlock his offensive potential but if Simmons isn't a for sure option and Ingram is, then you make that deal.

Oh and everything about what we would give up and what the Sixers would take is pure speculation based on rumors from writers I trust very little if at all. I honestly have no idea what is going on in either of Morey's or Olshey's heads but whatever is... I don't like either of them.
