Jose Calderon
Jason Kidd
Lou Williams (sp?)
Rondo
Jameer Nelson
Derek Fisher
Tony Parker
Devin Harris?
Any takers from that list?
i really liked tj ford this last offseason but the pacers swooped in.
Some of the people on that list are very unrealistic. Mo Williams and Baron Davis just got to there new teams. No chance. Jason Kidd is too old. Steve Nash is the face of the Suns franchise. Calderon isn't going to be moved, Tony Parker isn't going to be moved. Rondo isn't going to be moved anytime soon. Devin Harris isn't going to be moved either.
Detroit isn't going to trade Prince or Billups to us without them getting one of our big 3. That's how Dumars works. When asked about Prince, he said Portland would have to add Roy to the equation. Not gonna happen.
I disagree Billups is a prime candidate to be traded. Especially if his backup plays as well as he did last year. He's getting older if Dumars can get a draft pick, expiring contract and another good prospect back I could see him making a trade. Conley Jr. would be a nice fit but I have a feeling he's going to really bust out this year.
Huh? I never said Billups isn't a prime candidate to be traded. If Dumars wants Roy for Prince, then what is he gonna want for Billups is what I'm saying. There is absolutely no way we could get Billups without giving up one of our Big 3.

Hello Mr Mustache,
If'n it hasn't be expressed, welcome to our family. We don't discriminate. Even against Hawaiians.
I think all of your ideas are bogus. Here's some TLAs that will be useful in my responses below.
NGH - Not going to happen. The other team views them as a cornerstone and will not trade them. At least not for anyone outside of the big 3.
NMBB- Not much better than Blake
RHB - Rather have Bayless
LTS - Lamer Than Sergio
TO - Too Old. By the time we (as the nascar folk are fond of saying) got our engines started they'd be puttering out.

I know it's still early, but I would say Rudy is almost untouchable. How often does a player of his talent come along? I think he's going to be a star and I wouldn't want to trade him for an aging veteran like Billups.
Maybe not an aging vet, but how about a player like Devin Harris?
I don't know if NJ would even consider, but if you have two potential star players that play the same position, do you trade one for a solid starter at another position?
That's the same logic that led us to picking Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan in a sense.
Except there, the Blazers took the lesser talent (even based on knowledge at the time) based on not wanting to create a logjam. The draft is different...your slot is your slot, and if you take a worse talent at that slot, there's no recouping that lost talent.
In trades, you can structure it to preserve talent. If you're trading the better player, you can have the other side add an extra player/pick/cash, whatever.
Trading to alleviate a logjam is perfectly reasonable. Devin Harris is the better proven talent and Fernandez is not likely to be superior (though it's within the realm of possibility). Trading a talented player for one who is equally talented or moreso and plays a position of more need is exactly what you want to do in trades.
Trading Fernandez for Devin Harris at this point and time seems to me like it would be stupid. With all the love Portland fans seem to have for Rudy, and the excitement he brings, why even discuss moving him when theres about a 1% chance moving Rudy would actually happen?
KP and the other guys spent a lot of time talking Rudy into coming over, they wouldn't just ship him out so soon.
I also think Rudy has a great chance of becoming as good of a player as Devin Harris is.

Well, the reason you would consider moving him is if you think you can an equal or better player at another position. I think Devin Harris is a superior talent, especially when one considers defense. He's also a highly talented prototypical point guard...something the team doesn't have.
If you don't think Harris is a better talent, then clearly we're not going to agree on the wisdom of moving Fernandez.![]()
