What Lincoln did with freeing slaves was great, but I'm talking about recent presidents. And I ranked Clinton 3rd, when FDR was clearly first on my list. So STFU.</div>This thread isn't about 1920s on.I didn't say you ranked them otherwise, so I don't know what your point is in repeating yourself. No, you stfu. I don't think Michael Moore would rank Clinton 3rd best president ever.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MaRdYC26 @ Jan 5 2007, 06:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Top 3 ever:FDRJFKClinton</div>bullsh**..not 1920's sh*t...

Even if you took only presidents from 1920 on Clinton wouldn't be top 3. LBJ did a hell of a lot more for this country than Clinton ever did, and if it wasn't for Vietnam he probably would be considered a good president. LBJs war on poverty helped blacks out more than any president since Linconln(since apparently we rank presidents by what they did for the blacks) Ronald Reagan did a lot for this country too, he ended the cold war without firing a shot. he signed into act a huge grant system for the devolopment of better microchips which would eventually lead to the economic boom of the 90s.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Memphis Fan @ Jan 6 2007, 07:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>bullsh**..not 1920's sh*t...</div>Well thats what I meant...so Yeah, I'd add George Washingto and Abe Lincoln to that list if I was talking about all the presidents, I meant 1920's and on...like the living generation.

George Washington wasnt a great presidentthats a major misconception

He still helped shape our country. I don't even know if he was a good "political" country, thats the whole reason I didn't go back that far...because I have no ideas about those guys...thats why I was talking about within the last 75 years...

Well I am on the Cavs Message board and before I ever saw this thread I made a tournament like 3 4 days ago to see who you think is the best president lol. I will give you the results from quarter finals and up:George WashingtonFranklin D. RooseveltThomas JeffersonDwight D. EisenhowerCalvin CoolidgeGeorge Washington and FDR moved on from that. Abraham LincolnAndrew JacksonGeorge W. BushRonald W. ReaganTheodore RooseveltLincoln and Reagan moved on from that:Abraham LincolnGeorge WashingtonLincoln moved on from thatRonald W. ReaganFranklin D. RooseveltReagan moved on from thatAbraham LincolnRonald W. ReaganLincoln won

How was Andrew Jackson on that list, Didn't he get impeached? LolI'm sorry, but Abe Lincoln divided the country.... People always remember people for the greatness they did, even if they were the cause of the reason that greatness was necessary.

I'm not sure, but I think he came up with the term Manifest Destiny.Abe Lincoln may have divided the country, but it was very needed. The North could have been very bad to the South after the war, but they were very lenient in the terms of surrender. Without that, America might never have been whole again. Things turned out okay.

agreed abe lincoln divided the country for a good reason he stopped slavery

Andrew Johnson was the dick and the impreached one. Andrew Jackson was sortve like a popular president...alotve people liked him. The qoute he said before he died was "damn, I didnt get to see ____hanged"...or something like that. I forget who he said it about, but it was a political rival...I like him.

I recall that he was one of the most popular presidents in a survey that was mentioned in my Political Science class, but I don't know why the hell he would be.

cause he came from the people, he was once poor, he was down to earth, he easily related to the people, and he was already popular for his contributions in the War of 1812

Jackson was popular but I don't concider him a great president. He was a much better military leader than he was president, as is the case with all generals who become president. Jacksons administration oversaw the near bankrupting of this country, yet miraculasly(sp?) pulled us out and for the only time in our nations history the country wasn't in debt. He also disobeyed a supreme court decision which today would have gotten him impeached.Andrew Johnson was a douche. He was a horrible choice for VP, and was only added so that Lincoln could steal electoral votes from McClelland. He was a southern white supremisist who pretty much F*cked the south. his feud with the radical republicans could have distoried this country.

^yup, he wanted blacks free, but only cause he hated the southern farmers....so he pretty much was a dick like everybody is saying.

thats a pretty good list, didnt Harrison die in his first month?lol...that had to suck

Franklyn Roosevelt was ok, but he wasn't that great. He had the great Depression occur under him. He tried to have the New Deal, but that didn't work. It took the US getting into another World War to pull him out of the great depressionHow could Reagan end a war that never started :dunno: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>1-Abraham Lincoln Civil war, freed the slaves and basically kept this country together.</div>Yeah, ONLY AFTER DIVIDING IT.

I think the list Redneck posted was pretty good, but I don't think George W. Bush should have been that high on the list...He should probably be around 39th or 40th

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (L_C @ Jan 7 2007, 09:41 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Franklyn Roosevelt was ok, but he wasn't that great. It didn't OCCUR under him, it occured under that Herbert Hoover dude.

yeah, not to mention FDR made America a superpower AFTER the depression. FDR is easily the greatest.

Oh, then all FDR did is try to end the great deppression with the new deal. Only problem was the new deal only worked because we went into WW2..

The Great Depression started in 1929 after the stockmarket collapsed, FDR wasn't elected president until 1932. Herbert Hoover was president when it started, but some blame the depression on the Harding/Cooledge administrations because of their corruption with things like Teapot dome, and I think it was Cooledge who vetoed a law to that would have banned stock "bubbling" , the stock "bubble" bursting is what caused the depression.

FDR also created social secruity, which is HUGE today.

I don't think GWB even should break the top 25. I mean yeah, we live in tough times, but still alot of people could of done better (IE me)

Your not president. and the sad fact is we have had a lot worse people than George Bush as president. Bush hasn't been great by any stretch, but he hasn't been as bad as someone like Warren Harding, Ulysses Grant, or his father. Right now him and Clinton are very close in ranking, I just gave it to Bush since he has had a lot more obsticles than Clinton. Clintons biggest obsticle was that fat cow with the stained dressed. Clintons banging of her should have been an impeachable offense, I mean he is the most powerful man in the world and he does that. I mean if he had banged Sarah Michelle Gellar or Claudia Shiffer all would be forgiven. but Monica Lewinsky! *shutters* and she isn't even the worse of the things he banged. Hillary Clinton, Jennifer Flowers, Kathleen Whitley, and possibly Janet Reno and Madilan Albright.

It's not like Lincoln was sitting there in a room and said to Lee and Grant, "Hey guys okay now all we gotta do is convince a hundred thousand or so to die! It'll be easy!" It was going to happen.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MaRdYC26 @ Jan 7 2007, 11:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>No he didn't, he was the one to get us out of it. They made a vacuum cleaner after his name to make fun of him.
