Hey guys, I'm looking to take my wife out for dinner on New Year's Eve and she wants some seafood. Where's a good place? Not too spendy but not Red Lobster.

Oh man, the cheesey bread at Red Lobster rocks.

Wong's King on 92nd & Division -- it is very authentic Chinese, but great seafood. It can be spendy or not depending on what you order. Probably not what you had in mind. Obviously Jake's is the best, but spendy and good luck getting reservations. Not a fan of McCormick & Schmicks. I have heard Albina Oyster House is good (but I haven't made it there yet). I like Hawthorne Fish House -- but it is probably not what your wife has in mind either. It is a fish fry place.Hey guys, I'm looking to take my wife out for dinner on New Year's Eve and she wants some seafood. Where's a good place? Not too spendy but not Red Lobster.

No problem. I went to Salty's once. I forgot about that place. If I remember right, it was pretty good. I think I would go there if you can get in. IIRC it was a little over priced, but good food, and it's right on the water. If you time it right, maybe they will be doing Xmas Ships.Been to Wong's already. It was pretty good. We wanna try something new.
McCormick's and Newport Bay are out of the question. Been there done that. I wanna try something that isn't a chain restaurant.
Hmm, the Albina Oyster House? I'll have to check into that. My wife mainly loves shrimp and crab. Neither of us really ever get fish fillets. We like our seafood fried or in some pasta.
A friend just told me about Salty's. Maybe we'll check it out.
I used to go to Salty's when it was on the Willamette for Sunday brunch once in awhile. Mmmmmm.: http://www.saltys.com/portland/

The only thing I like about Dan and Louis Oyster Bar is the cheap oyster crackers. I will check out the Chart House. I went to the Chart House in Lake Tahoe about 11 years ago and it was pretty good. I didn't know we had one in our back yard.what did you like at Dan and Louis"? I found it mediocre when I went there....Jake's crawfish was too.
