Billups makes no sense - Grant should not be starting

So either our players aren’t worth Jack shit, or other GMs think they can take advantage of Joe. Otherwise it makes no sense to hold onto Grant and Williams.
In which case, we damn sure should not be playing them ahead of our young guns.

Again, the reports made no sense. Think about it. It’s beyond laughable to think that Joe is insisting on multiple picks for Grant… do you believe everything you read on the internet? A vast majority of rumors never happen because a vast majority are BS spread by agents.

What’s especially laughable is posters saying it’s the GM being the idiot for not doing deals that were obviously never on the table.

I could certainly see Joe insisting on more than a FRP for Grant during last summer.

We've seen him hold on to many Blazer vets for years that don't make sense here. I don't believe that all of them had zero value at every moment over all those years.

So right back at you - think about it.

I also think asking for a FRP for RWIII isn't unreasonable. Not all FRP are created equal.

Saying that you could speaks to your judgement not Joe's. So sorry but no franchise would have or will trade for Grant because of his contract let alone attach a 1st & yet you really think Joe is holding out for even more??? I'm having a great laugh over how ridiculous that is

Jerami is an okay starter being paid like a superstar, which makes him a terrible value. Teams don't have problems paying up to the salary cap apron on their roster, but giving too much of the salary pie to lesser players limits their ability to add & retain true difference making talent(s). Grant clearly isn't and hasn't been a difference maker over his entire career and the chances of him becoming one in his mid 30s are miniscule. He is already one of the worst bang for your buck players in the league and his salary is going up up up with his age. If Portland wants to move him, their options are to take on a similar terrible contract or to be the ones attaching valuble draft capitol going out in the trade. If I was the GM of another team discussing a trade swap for Grant for an expiring contract, I'd want at least an unprotected 1st coming back to even think about it... and to move on that I'd have to think that pick would likely be top half of a draft I like.

Grant isn't paid like a superstar - he makes 30 million and guys like Butler make 60 million.

Honestly, the only reason to be pissed at Chauncey lately is that we're winning too much. But I wouldn't trust a coach that was on board with tanking.
I would trust Gregg Popovich. He practically invented the concept of tanking. (see: Duncan, Tim and Wembanyama, Victor)

Grant makes 29.8M while Jimmy Butler makes 48.8M this year. Apples to apples if you want to start to understand whats what. There are over 500 players in the league. This season Jerami Grant is the 43rd highest paid player or well into the top 10% of overall NBA salaries. Upper 10% is generally considered elite in most anything being judged. An average NBA salary is 11.9M this season or 40% of what Grant is making. He turns 31 in less then a month and his contract runs for 3 more seasons after this when he'll be among the oldest players in the league. It's a safe assumption he opts into that 3rd year at 36.4M regardless of what team he's on. All his advanced stats (which were never great) are going down, which is completely normal for a player of his advanced NBA age. I'll step out on a stable limb and guess this trend continues down.

Why in the world do you believe nameless rumors that there is an active interest in trading for him? How on god's green earth do you not know you're being played for clicks?

depends on the team, it's projected draft spot, and the protection. But Timelord's durability has some massive negative value. Over the last 218 (2.7 seasons)games he's missed 158 while playing in 60. In his time in Portland he's played in 25 games while missing 111; and he's only averaged 18 minutes in those games. He makes Sam Bowie look like an iron man

kind of hard to believe that Ayton played over 18 minutes and had no rebounds. That works out to 0 rebounds per36, and 0 rebounds per 100 possessions. Also, 0% rebounding rate. Zero is a magical number

on the other hand, Clingan's TS% was 107.6% and he had an offensive rating of 192; the Blazers were at 114.5

I thought 3 was a magic number. You mean to tell me school house rock lied to me as a kid?

I don't know why it really matters. He's usually a really good rebounder. Jokic likes to play out beyond the three point line.

Billups makes no sense - Shaedon plays 20 minutes in a blowout?

good way to lose a player both mentally and eventually lose him from wanting to stay in Portland. Ant and Grant both doing the same sorry shit on defense
