OMG, they named a major airport in LA after him.
They also named a very modern aircraft carrier after him.
Watch what I think is his greatest movie, The Searchers starring John Wayne, Jeffrey Hunter, Natalie Wood and Ward Bond.

I think that people who were on the fence of NOT voting for him, will start to think that all this changing of names and knocking down statues will push them back towards voting for him.

I'm not buying that. Sure, there may be some, but not enough to make a difference

as soon as there is video of Biden on a rope, helping pull down a Jefferson statue, then maybe it will make a difference. But the idea that radicals are going to far doesn't mean trump is the answer over Biden in the minds of some fence-sitters.

Fuck John Wayne!
I look at John Wayne and Al Sharpton the same way. Both racist in their younger years but I think they both came around somewhat.
I can now watch a Duke movie and even Al Sharpton on MSNBC. I still think Al is a bit racist but it doesn't bother me.

Watch The Searchers!

Very very dark movie.

You will like it.

Also you've never seen a Sergio Leone western? Dude, you're missing out.

I have a niece who's 100% pro women's lib but calls some movies chick flicks. I don't think she takes it as a denigrating term.
I also have a close friend who's Liberal with a capitol 'L' who talks about flirting with Chicks and he certainly does not take it as denigrating.
I think it depends on who uses the expression and how they use it. Context, context, contex

The term 'chick flicks' denigrates men. It is saying that real men, tough guys don't watch movies with women that may cause you to feel emotion because real men don't cry. It shows weakness.

I'm the toughest SOB here and one of my favorite movies is a chick flick, Fried Green Tomatoes!

It's also a movie about cannibalism so there's that.

TO WANDA!

So you are going to deny their is that stigma out there?

No.

I just wanted to point out that I'm an SOB and like movies about cannibalism.

Also I wouldn't call a movie that has cannibalism in it a 'chick flick'. It infers violence and gore.

I mean't movies like 'The Notebook, Legally Blonde, Sweet Home Alabama, Miss Congeniality, Enchantanted, The Girl on the Train, Bring it on, etc.

Have you seen Fried Green Tomatoes?

Seriously good movie!

I said this before in another thread; I have a history of Grand Mal Seizures and movies such as that would cause Visceral Dreaming. I am not excited about going to sleep and having cannibals try to eat me.

Maybe in another life I would've been able to watch it.

It's not a movie about cannibals and actually the cannibalism scene is just a very small subplot. I don't want to spoil things but trust me, I was only joking about it being a movie about cannibalism. A man who beats his wife goes missing and they joking say he's been cooked at the local BBQ place.

Don't trust Sly. It's just a big cannibalism movie. "Fried green tomatoes" is what this group of hardcore murderers calls the people they eat.

Oh, sorry, that's kind of the big reveal in the movie. TIME called it "the finest movie in the people-eat-people genre" so probably still worth seeing.

Evelyn Couch is having trouble in her marriage, and no one seems to take her seriously. While in a nursing home visiting relatives, she meets Ninny Threadgoode, an outgoing old woman, who tells her the story of Idgie Threadgoode, a young woman in 1920's Alabama. Through Idgie's inspiring life, Evelyn learns to be more assertive and builds a lasting friendship of her own with Ninny.

And then they eat people. Or, were they eating people the entire time while the story was being told? Probably washing it down with a nice chianti err.....ice tea

John Wayne was a White supremacist? Isn't he the guy that was pro American Indian and favored giving the Panama Canal back to the Panamanians? You're making me question his motives.
“A man deserves a second chance, but keep an eye on him.”
