Welp, add Mike Richman to the long list of media who don't know what the fuck they're talking about. Seriously, anyone that doesn't think people on this forum can do just as good of a job as some of these hacks doesn't know what they are talking about either.
The TPE can't be combined to bring in a player that made more than $13 million. Kevin Love makes over $20 million.
So stupid.
Fucking Morons.
No, I'm 100% sure that Olshey has inquired about Love, especially in the timeline Richman provided after LeBron left but before Love signed the extension. So, knowing NO is pretty good with the CBA, he likely never did make this call huh?
He offered the trade exception, which he can't do there. Settle downBut, I thought NO doesnt try for these things? .....lol

Its funny how it's always something that "almost gets done".Richman might have the dates and vehicles messed up, but Olshey mentioned they had some deals in the works at the deadline that involved big salaries that ultimately didn’t get done, but that the players they were interested in ending up not getting moved. Kevin Love fits the bill, and I could see it getting revisited again this summer. Love fits Stotts perfectly and fills an area of need. Cleveland should also be interested in dumping Loves contract and we have the expirings to make it work. Would probably cost us Simons, or at minimum, a first.
This cracks me up sometimes, we gotta be excited NO almost did something but couldnt pull it for whatever reason, but hey he tried so.. job half done! Its funny how it's always something that "almost gets done".
I want someone who can get things done.

Yeah because Olshey didn’t get anything done.

Nah man, Richman specifically mentions the TPE and how we were trying to use it for a big money player.Richman might have the dates and vehicles messed up, but Olshey mentioned they had some deals in the works at the deadline that involved big salaries that ultimately didn’t get done, but that the players they were interested in ending up not getting moved. Dude lucked into Kanter. All he got done was acquiring a role player who has no bird rights. Congrats.Yeah because Olshey didn’t get anything done.

I'm talking about trades that acquire legitimate talent. Big time trades. Its always "he called" and then people celebrate because "oh, he is trying!"
Okay, when before has the strategy of beating out the Lakers worked for us?stopped reading after that. The most boring thing to read on this forum is “he lucked into _____” every time a player he acquires succeeds (but if they fail it’s all his fault) It just makes you look like a dumbass.
Kanter was big against the Thunder and we don’t get past the Nuggets without Hood, who you conveniently left out. We’ll see what happens this summer. I’ll save the crying for after.
Okay, when before has the strategy of beating out the Lakers worked for us?
Did Olshey not have to rely on Kanter soing something no player has ever done in the history of the NBA?
Was there actual GM skill involved in simply asking Kanter if he wanted to join our team?
Yes he was big down the stretch for us, I dont think amyone is arguing that.
And I wouldnt have faulted him for Hood, Kanter, or Curry if they failed. There were reasons to take those gambles (which were low-risk) if they paid off or not.
I said I want someone whos able to swing trades for serious upgrades (that are, ya know, better than Rodney Hood). You misinterpreting that context and trying to apply lesser acquisitions with completely different circumstances isnt my problem.
I listened to the actual podcast. Richman never said that. He said they explored using the TPE or players to try to get Love before his contract expired last year. This is an aggregation issue. Richman is actually pretty good with this stuff.Welp, add Mike Richman to the long list of media who don't know what the fuck they're talking about. Is Love the final major piece to make this team a title contender? With his injury history, I'm not so sure.So how do we get love?
Would the Cavs do Love for Moe, Meyers, and our pick? Seems a little light on our end, even with his contract. But trades usually end up being lighter than we’d imagined. So maybe?
Doesn't even matter if he's good with CBA or not, every half clued fan will know about the rule. And he's basically getting paid to know these rules.

Nah, it's always the same few people that seem allergic to proper context, and assume it incorrectly.Funny how so many people seem to “misinterpret” you huh? Maybe it is your problem.

Yes, now his crappy contracts are expiring. He's had assets though. He had a 4-year tenure here before that summer and his crowning achievement was Aaron Afflalo...I'm going to jump in here and offer my 2 cents on your final point. I think that when you look at bigger trades, you have to recognize how hamstrung the Blazers have been due to the Summer of 2016, when Olshey fell into the trap of spending cap space resulting from new TV revenues on a crop of free agents who weren't deserving of the money. I understand why that decision was made as a way of banking cap space that was going to be lost, but it didn't work out well for the Blazers because Turner, Leonard, and Harkless all under performed so that there was no trade market for them. That issue finally begins to change this summer when those contracts are now ending deals. Other pieces acquired since then (Collins, Nurk, & Simons) all now have considerable trade value. Most notably, CJ has become a legitimate scorer and borderline All-Star with potentially major trade value. For all of those reasons, this summer is the first one that Olshey has the resources to actually make a trade that has significant impact. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does either this summer or by the trade deadline next season. That's what I'm going to base my evaluation of him on; not what he hasn't been able to do when he didn't have the resources.
Im not sure how I feel about AD, Love or BG, they all have injury histories, Love is the only one thats really won and he had this guy named Lebron on his team. Id be somewhat hesitant to give away young guys like Simons for any of them. Ultimately you’d have to, and they all have skillsets that would help the team, but I think they all carry some pretty big risks with them.I mean, we’re missing a guy with his skill set. A four that’s good on the boards, spaces the floor, playmaker, playoff experience, champion. Hes got flaws defensively, but is still better than Kanter. I hate his contract and injury history, but he’s also not a guy that relies on athleticism, so his game should age well. If we could get him without sacrificing Simons, I’d be all over it. If we had to give up Simons, I’d be more hesitant, but I’d probably still do it. He’d make the team a lot better.
I mean, yes please.
