Maybe, and no doubt the decision was based on more than the public posts.

It also may be less conspiratorial and reflect the fact that BF was just.......well, a jerk.

If I was the owner of S2 and the goal was to attract new forumites, I would have been concerned that potential new posters casually perusing the site would have been turned off by the MANY long and caustic entries.

To address those who say to just ignore it, the issue is, you can put a poster on ignore, and then not see their posts. Hurray. The bigger issue, which comes into play here, is when someone's posts continually derail threads, or become personal attacks that draw others into addressing said attacks, as opposed to carrying on an otherwise productive discussion. So now it's not ignoring only a few posts, it's going into a thread and seeing it having gone to shit. So oyu leave and don't post.

I disagree. This is the kind of thing that drove people from BBF to here in the first place.
 
Every time a woman comes on this board the same few posters find a way to put her on the defensive, provoke a reaction from her, taunt or twist her words, then cry like a baby that she has "hurt" them.

No wonder this place has a higher % of men than the YMCA.

I wasn't over at BBF with some of you but I was always told that the mods banned people, didn't give reason why and if you complained you were banned too.

Went from major forum to ghost town in a matter of days.

It was hilarious fun. I'd jump on board in a minute.

Or maybe if some guys weren't so scared of girls...:dunno:

I think the Mods thought quite the opposite. More people were going to leave if she stayed. I know I was posting less lately. I can't blame it all on BF (work was busier as well) but it contributed to it. I loved her bball posts. Seems she strayed away from those more and more though.
 
I was banned at BBF for no reason. They thought I did something that I didn't do. They rescinded the ban, but by that time it was too late.

sure she did. So, no the same as BBF, where people got banned for absolutely nothing. Read the thread. She was warned numerous times. Were you at BBF before being banned? Likely no SO again, not the same, Poor analogy, sorry.

I was on BBF. This is nothing like that, that was a mod from outside the community coming in and banning people because they had a different opinion about politics in the OT forum. This is about someone personally attacking and causing problems in the actual Blazers forum, and a Blazers mod banned her.

But some of you guys love to hang that over Denny's head. "Ohhh, if you don't treat us right we'll leaaaave."

That would be a big mistake at this juncture. The forum culture isn't what it used to be. If you want to leave and either go to a different forum or start one yourself, you'll find that you'll just shrink down the community that much more and you'll be talking with a very small group of people. If you thought this place was clicky, it will only get worse. There's a reason why there isn't much youth on this forum. Kids don't post on forums anymore. It's just us old farts. How many people do you think consistently post on here? 15-20? We have a lot of people who lurk, but the number of people who actually post is very small. This community can't survive another migration. It's already significantly smaller than it was on BBB.net.

It's your call, but do you really want to kill the community over a poster who has been banned from two other places for similar issues?

I also find it hilarious that the guy who drove away the community at BBF is now an admin, and he posted this in Mixum's thread:

Yet you ban or suspend those who actively post here, yet who generate responses. I'm literally about to be banned again, and I post here every day, and even tried to extend the McCollum thread using stats. Nobody replied.

Maybe those who PM you guys 100 times would be better served actually posting in threads. Just a thought.
