Blazer TV deal, it's..... (1 Viewer)

One positive is that it sounds like the Blazers can opt out of this new deal if CSN doesn't get on DirectTV soon.

I have no reason to believe this will actually happen. What has been shown that the three will stop having their glorified dick measuring contest?

Yes, they put in terms to hope that CSN increases distribution but there is nothing in there that says they can cut bait if they don't. You are reading too much into it until they come out and say something along the lines of what you are thinking.

If we want to speculate I would say it is much more likely those terms are that they get more or less money sent to them depending on how much is distributed.

For starters, the Blazers included terms in their new contract that incentivizes CSN to expand distribution.

Incentivizes could mean they get an extra parking spot at games for each satellite company they allow games to be shown on. Incentivizes doesn't mean much unless you know what the incentives are.

yeah, i'll probably go all league pass. I'll miss the NBA TV games which sucks, though. blah!

I hate Comcast. I think it's a shit organization. The team knew how the public felt about Comcast. They knew that this reaction was inevitable.
I respect that. Directv and dish and frontier are the same though. They all are shit. Pick your poison.

So, their solution to making the product more available to the public had to include eliminating the only access to free games on KGW? Nice job, McGowan.

The Playstation Vue option is something I'll look into once my contract with Comca$$$t is up. I wonder how long it will take Comca$$$t to price the Vue option out of the picture.

This is my biggest gripe. And these idiots they keep adding random Tuesday games to NBA TV which fucks all us LP BB cord cutters over.

OFFICIAL BLAZER PRESS RELEASE!

TRAIL BLAZERS, CSN NORTHWEST EXTEND AND EXPAND PARTNERSHIP

Multi-year Deal Includes All Regional Games and New Media Distribution Rights

PORTLAND, Ore. (July 6, 2016) – CSN Northwest, part of NBC Sports Group, will continue as the local rightsholder for Portland Trail Blazers game broadcasts, it was announced today by Trail Blazers President & CEO Chris McGowan. Beginning with the new 2017-18 extension, CSNNW will become the exclusive media partner for all regional Trail Blazers games.

“After thorough negotiations with several other potential partners, it became apparent that by building on our existing relationship with CSN Northwest, we have the best opportunity to increase distribution for Trail Blazers games and other programming in our marketplace,” said McGowan. “With the addition of David Preschlack at NBC Sports Group and his background in distribution, we’re very motivated to collaborate on ways to bring even greater access to our fans.”

“We’re excited to extend our relationship with the Portland Trail Blazers beyond the 2016-17 season and look forward to building on the growth in distribution we have achieved over the last few years,” said Preschlack, President of NBC Sports Regional Networks. “We’re also excited to work with the team to determine new ways to reach fans in the Portland area.”

CSN Northwest has seen meaningful increases in distribution over the last few years, thanks to new carriage agreements with Charter Communications, CenturyLink Prism® TV, and most recently SONY Vue, which is accessible on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Amazon Fire TV, Google Chromecast and Roku. These distributors expanded CSN Northwest’s longstanding carriage on XFINITY, Frontier and Wave.

“CSN is committed to super-serving Portland’s passionate fans and thrilled that this new partnership features more Trail Blazers games on CSN than ever before,” said Larry Eldridge, GM of CSN Northwest.

In addition to game broadcasts, the Trail Blazers-CSNNW partnership will continue producing a comprehensive mix of shoulder programming, including Trail Blazers Courtside, pregame shows, halftime updates and postgame wrap-ups. There are also plans to refresh studio sets, on-air graphics and other production elements.

For the upcoming 2016-17 season, Trail Blazers regional game broadcasts will continue to be shared between CSNNW and local NBC affiliate KGW Channel 8. Radio broadcasts of Trail Blazers games will still be found on flagship Rip City Radio AM-620 and on 20 additional stations regionally on the Trail Blazers Radio Network.

Mine is the delay, its like a minute and if ur following on twitter u get screwed!

It's great that there are workarounds - but there's a large segment of the population that don't understand how to work devices like Chromecast. My Dad already has to call me just to find what channel the game is on when it's not on CSNNW.

Do you have LP or LP broadband? Are you watching on a computer or a device? I just got a roku so we'll see what it's like, but I have my laptop hooked up via HDMI during games. LP BB is pretty decent in terms of lagging. I'm almost always right in front of twitter

I don't care. The NBA is 99% unwatchable for me anyway.

I'm only here for the sparkling conversation and chicks.

While probably annoying for him, its just what the times are. Its a step in the right direction and its the only viable alternative to get everyone the games at this time. Dont just blame comcast, directv wont even agree to pac 12 network.

Sucks to be him. But, people have choices and can choose where you live.

Can never please everyone. There will still be 1%-5% screwed. Just the way it is. Get better internet.
Trust me. If I could get better internet I would :(

But yep we live where we choose to live. I guess I could move to be able to watch games lolz.

And im the one that was told i needed my fruit roll up and capri sun?

Jeez guys. You are just complaining to complain now. Unless you have an actual issue and cant choose comcast or playstation vue, why are you complaining?
Sweet I'm back in! Haha.

It sucks. I feel for you. I wish you could watch games cause i miss you posting with us. But it just is what it is. Hopefully they come to agreement with dish or directv, whichever one you have so you can watch more games.

I think I'm most peeved that I had 15 or so before that I could at least watch on KGW, and the 3 or so on TNT so that helped. But somehow I got even less with with this lol.

Yeah a deal would be nice. And hopefully it will happen, but at this point I'm not holding my breath. Hopefully CHold was right on the twitters when he said its strongly incentivized to get deals done. Or something to that sort.

My wife's text to me "maybe this is the year you get into Hockey" lolz at least she knows what to say when I'm annoyed. :)

55%? Its not just 55%. They are accessible to almosy everyone with playstation vue.

Wifes are somehow very good at that. Thats why we keep em around i guess lol

And boobs too :P

Look up other teams distribution percentage, LA Dodgers for example.

I'd venture to guess the Dodgers brand holds a lot more clout than Blazers. I'm interested to see how this turns out in the future when most of a (% of a) generation has little to no ties with the team due to not being able to follow them. At some point you have to weigh the cost for growing your brand and keeping people invested for future generations.

I suspect that the % of fans who are going to get that service are pretty small.

Sooooo, they shouldnt complain then. Because they have a service, accessible to them, for $30ish a month, with no contract, to watch the games.

So if they dont want the service, and dont get comcast..... i guess they arent really that invested in the blazers to begin with.

The Warriors had about 8 or so years of Southern Oregon exclusively to themselves, and now that they're going to probably be a dynasty Portland has completely lost this region, especially with the Californian transplants.
