It would be a challenge no doubt. We need to somehow keep winning. But the bright side is some of our other bigs get more of a chance, maybe they can assert themselves and hopefully we stay in the playoff picture

I love that Meyers "5 years of getting a chance, has two herniated discs" Leonard is getting yet ANOTHER chance. I mean, Gee willigers!

Just trying to stay positive. Meyers, Vonleh, Aminu would get more minutes, probably more Harkless at the 4 so more minutes for Turner and Crabbe in their natural position and maybe some minutes for Napier as well. No doubt it would be a challenge but maybe some of these players benefit from the larger role

OK, this is fucking creepy.
I turned on my pc and the first thing i did was click on hoopshype, while it was loading i had a strange feeling it will say "Nurkic is down" on the front page,i don't know why. The page comes up and it says "Nurkic is out for two weeks".

wtf

Well.. I don't want to say. I called it..
But I had a few posters on this forum jump at me and tell me my injury concerns about Nurk weren't valid.
I wonder if this makes me right?

for gods sake, non-displaced fibula fracture is one of the most common fractures, so Im not bothered by it
that could happen to any of us and it doesnt mean were injury prone

its minor injury, nothing to worry about

This is Meyers last chance to salvage an NBA career.
I wish this were the case, everytime I think I've seen the last of Nards I'm forced to remember he just signed an extension for 4 years.
It always ends up with me drinking.

It doesn't.
Mkay Stren. I hope I'm wrong, really I do.
But I just can't get hyped about Nurk because every time I get hyped about a Portland Center they end up in a suit.

LOL how is this TNTs issue? Mad because they reported a story?
Just going on a limb, but b/c they "reported" Bowie and Oden as "notable centers" to further a storyline. I mean, why would you bring up 2x All-Star and 2x Finals-player Kevin Duckworth, who played in 594 games for POR? Or Gold Medal-winning, basketball HoFer Arvydas Sabonis, who went to WCF twice and played 521 games with POR?

Why not go with "notable big-man trades that jumped the Blazers to the level of contenders?" Mo Lucas, Buck Williams, Duckworth, Sheed, etc.? That's also a historical storyline.

Now, for "jinx", whatever. Dude got injured, it happens. When ET broke a bone, where was the "OMG he's Brandon Roy reincarnate!11!1" injury concern posts.

Lazy "reporting" by some 25y/o TNT staffer who's never seen the Blazers play live, and by the editors for pushing that level of story vice good components. Whatever. TNT was pimping Harden and the Rockets hard, and that's something we are (or better be) used to. :dunno:

It's a bummer that this happened now, so close to the playoffs. A guy missing 2-4 weeks out of a season is nothing any other time of the year. But it's important to keep in mind that Nurk's acquisition is about the future of this team, not this year's playoffs. Going against the Warriors, that was never going to be more than a six game event at best. A cracked fibula is not a career- impacting injury.

Yes, this. When they showed that graphic during the game I was like: WTF? Why are they bringing up only injured centers? What do their injuries have to do with Nurk?

Well they meant all the "great" centers in blazers history. It's actually quite a compliment that they regard Nurkic has the next great center

"Will reevaluate in 2 weeks."

That is fine but that doesn't mean he can play in 2 weeks. A fracture, even of the non-weight bearing fibula, especially on a man of this size doesn't just heal up 100% in 2 weeks. You risk further and more complicated injury by doing so. Also, they don't seem to know how it happened other then a general guess of an impact or twisting motion that caused the injury.

They very well may reevaluate and I hope he is okay to play but 2 weeks seems very optimistic.

If we really want to see what some of the guys have to offer, starting front court of ML, PC & JL.

Be like watching a train wreck - in slow motion.

Life as a Blazer fan.

We may as well just play small ball.

Damian/Napier
CJ/PattyCake
Turner/Crabbe
Harkless
Vonleh/Aminu

They listed Walton, Oden, and Bowie.
Pretty sure they left out at least one other Center there that was great, if they were listing all the "great" centers in Blazer history.

Depends on who Meyers is matched up with. I mean, he can play center against some of the worse bigs in the league.
