Notice Blazers announce Jusuf Nurkic suffered a non-displacement fibular fracture in his right leg.

I suppose 'compete' is subjective. With Nurkic, the Blazers were at least playing better and would have been much more competitive and got something out of the Playoff series....especially for Nurkic who has never been. Maybe they only win a game or two but that is quite different from playing the way they were before Nurkic when I think they get swept and aren't competitive unless the Warriors get bored.

There is a lot more to be gleaned from one of those processes than the other even though the final outcome would be similar.

True it would be nice to get Nurk minutes in the playoffs. But I think people forget how good the Warrior are. They were freaking annihilating people before Durant's injury. He will be back. We might be able to slow the 2 home games down enough for Nurk to be a factor, but I am guessing the games in GS will be track meets. Not sure Nurk would be a huge factor. But I could certainly be wrong.

However it's the "returning to basketball purgatory" part of the original post that I find absurd.. I just can't possibly see how Nurk's injury makes that big of a difference in that scenario. Nor do I see how dropping 3-5 spots in the draft will. It's a deep draft with few stars at the top. So there are plenty of good young players out there that we can get with 3 first round picks. We just have to get the right ones.....as always. Nothing new there.

What if this injury thing is just a ploy so Nurkic can play center for the Ducks tonight and Monday?
"Only amateurs can play in the NCAA!"
"Would you call me professional for trying to trick you?"
"No I'd say you were being completely unprofessional!"
"...well?"
"Wow... all right you're free to play!"

Tweets from Paul Allen, or from rumor masters who speculate for a living?

For example, if Olshey dangled Crabbe, and told other GMs that the boss was making him pay Crabbe a lot, so they better offer Olshey a lot,...well, games like that are played all the time when you negotiate anything. The boss says, blame me and see what you can get. (I've done it both as subordinate and boss.) Then Woj hears of the ploy and reports it as fact. Then you say it's proven because Woj said so.
Why would he tell other teams to offer him more?

Meyers Leonard can be the temporary Bosnian beast.

That doesn't look good for us but we will see who going to step up to take his place. But I don't see it I guess Nurk shouldn't said that commit to the Nuggets it might have back fire.
I see Vonleh and Aminu as a 3/4 Nurk.

Even if we don't make playoffs or go down to GS, think long term people. It was always about next season.
Why can't we make the playoffs? It at least gives the concession people extra cash and helps me consume Rolling Rock for the televised games.

So in other words nothing has changed in the last two days. I mean we were never going to really compete with the Warriors and we were not going to get a lottery pick.

So unless Nurk's injury is career threatening, I am not sure how we are all of a sudden in basketball purgatory. Did we lose our 3 first round picks too?
The Blazers were 13-3 in March and appeared to be improving. They seemed pretty competitive to me. Injuries happen. Golden State dodged a bullet, I say ;)

On sale now at our Rite Aid for 7.99 per 18 pack!!! Are you kidding me??? (Not what we normally drink, but we are stocking up big time. They are already sold out, because of us....)

I've been browsing the net for examples of heal time for non-displaced fibula fracture, and it takes 6+ weeks for most people. Of course, all kinds of factors come into play, but to think he'll be playing ball in 2 weeks is very optimistic. Most of the heal times you see refer to people walking without crutches.

I just think Nurk is done for the season.
He fucking better be.

Jokes on us. Denver Nuggets did an April fool's trade on the Blazers couple days early.

Don't know if this has already been posted, but new report is that Nurk actually fractured his leg in the Denver game. So he played a whole game vs HOuston with the fracture.
