So the Blazers are moving to Vegas huh?
Would the NBA really not want any PNW teams?

It’s because the NBA wants to tap into the Vegas market imo, and Silver only sees dollar signs and knows a team in Vegas would make money.
I said from the start I’m worried about Silver and I don’t trust him one bit, I got backlash for worrying about the Blazers potentially moving and here we are now
I think getting a group together to buy the team and move to Vegas is a lot easier than even getting a group for Seattle. The NBA seems to consider Portland to be the Siberia of sports.first thing: Jody and the Vulcans didn't have much of a choice, The Trust owned the Blazers and I'd be pretty certain the trust instructed the Vulcans on maintenance of the franchise. I'd need to see a listing of what they actually paid for that was voluntary, and then need to know what the tax ramifications were
Portland is a one horse town and the horse hasn't been sold in 37 years. The world is a lot different then it was in 1988. And the NBA is a lot different then when PA bought the Blazers for 70M and Sam Bowie was the highest paid Blazer at 1M. Kiki made 960K and Clyde made 350K
new owners want new arenas. Just ask Steve Ballmer
like you, I think Las Vegas is a real threat here. Now, they don't really have an NBA arena but is there any doubt that Vegas would foot the bill to build a brand spanking new arena? How much doubt will there be about the City of Portland doing the same? I don't think Silver was just throwing out a random thought. It was calculated
Demolish the MC, put the max underground with a station/elevator going up to the new arena. #Waterfront

Would you guys root for the Blazers under a new name in a new city if you knew basketball wasn’t coming back to Portland for the next 20 years?
They could do it in phases. Tear down the MC and build a new one. Once that's finished, tear down the Rose Garden and build an entertainment district.Demolish the MC, put the max underground with a station/elevator going up to the new arena. #Waterfront

Idk.
I might be done.
Kind of makes you think he doesn't care that much after all...Only in age. But it is far better than quite a few newer arenas. This comment from Silver raised my eyebrows a bit. Feel like Adam needs to actually come to Moda on his own to verify; this came out of nowhere.

Sadly, I think the time to demo the MC has passed, because those freaking morons who can't accept that things change.
It's a shame the Blanchard site couldn't be bought and used. The placement of I-5 there doesn't lend itself to be useful either.
I'm sure there are areas where the properties could be purchased (areas like Lloyd Center comes to mind) and utilized there. Lloyd Center would have been a good spot. It's close to transit, could have a TON of onsite parking, and could help revitalize that area if done correctly. It would have taken a lot of work, but it was a doable location.
Clackamas Town Center could work too. I don't know whatever came of the owner(s) defaulting on their loan, but it's close to 205, 82nd and transit. They could incorporate a lot into the area there too.
Niners cursed themselves by leaving the Stick.Good analysis. But as a long time 49er fan that attended Candlestick -- the Blazers leaving the downtown core is a big no for me.

Clackamas Town Center is too far away from the city to build an arena there.

It would have to mean destroying the memorial coliseum imo. Then keeping the rose garden too.Where the hell would they build a new arena?
I'd be done with them. They have been here my entire life and I've rooted for them tirelessly. Prepping them as another city would hurt to much.Would you guys root for the Blazers under a new name in a new city if you knew basketball wasn’t coming back to Portland for the next 20 years?

Idk I think it’s the other way around imo. Moving from Portland to Seattle is more or less the same demographic.the concern is Seattle, not Vegas.

moving to Vegas, completely different and a untapped market that will bring the NBA lots of money imo.
it’s all about money at the end of the day with Silver, IMO
Yeah, it's a bit eerie Silver saying we need a new arena, because that's what happened to Seattle. They failed to build a new arena and were moved. Portland/Oregon would approve a new arena in a flash though before losing our team.
