Ya if that chart is wrong, my bad. It was forwarded to me by people with the league. Maybe they are trying to figure this all out like we are.

so he doesn't like to be called a smart guy.....that's pretty humble

Mountains out of mole hills.
I just find it humorous he got defensive considering all the history on this board and all things said in the past.
No need to defend him. Its all there. :)

It’s not wrong, it just doesn’t include anything about home court.

I didn't read your previous post...but if you posted it why are you asking questions about it?

Because as it was pointed out to me, that article is from 2010, and the rules have changed since.

We're most likely gonna play NO or SAS with home court. I hope we have the Sunday game so our guys get an extra day of rest.
Was thinking the same thing. Man, what a difference. Would much rather play the Pels. In fact I’d rather play NOLA NOT having HCA, than play the Spurs WITH HCA. Pop, their crowd and culture.....don’t want to have anything to do with San Antonio. New Orleans fans, have nothing on them.

14 out of the 16 scenarios have us playing NO or SAS

1 out of 16 is against DEN
1 out of 16 is against MIN

And only 2 out of the 16 have us without HCA. And we'd start off in SA.

Last night's Utah win means we won't face them in the first round. Or OKC. I'm ok with this.

Was it back in ‘09 that it came down to the last night of the season? I remember we wanted to play the Spurs that season. There were like 10 scenarios that night we would play them and 1 we would play the Rockets......we played the ROckets. I think it was on some random missed FT by Gary Neal. I’m sure I got some facts wrong there, but it is crazy how all these possibilities work them selves out.

I seem to recall trashing Michael Finley for some reason.

I think by halftime things will have narrowed down BigTime. I mentioned this a couple weeks ago, that do coaches look at the and figure out what they want to do? Or do they just say, lets win regardless.
SOmetimes a loss sets you up with a better matchup.

I kind of think you just don't want to have to stay in San Antonio. New Orleans is much more fun.

Those are 2 of my favorite cities to have a day off in, but no, I was sickly thinking of matchups. I want our guys to get thru to the 2nd round.

It’s you that’s not understanding. There’s nothing about home court tiebreakers on that chart.

But it’s ok, I found the answer.

So looks like we wont have home court if we lose to the jazz and the spurs and thunder win.

The NBA eliminated any scenario where the worse seed has HCA. Whoever is the 4th seed has HCA over the 5th seed. If there is a 3-way tie that tiebreaker applies, not the head to head of two teams after determining the first tie breaker of the 3 teams. The whole point of the rule change was to get rid of all of this confusion.

Higher seed = HCA

So looking at what @HCP posted, I can see OKC trying their best to win tonight knowing they can still get a shot at HCA, well as long as Westbrook's chase for the triple double avg doesn't ruin the victory.

They've already clinched. And an OKC win clinches HCA for us, regardless of what we do tonight.
According to that chart, Denver can’t get the 8th spot, only the 6th or 7th.....so strange.

Chad doing was going back and fourth with someone on Twitter last night and he said that they checked with the league and this is not the case.
SA can have Home court as the lower seed if we play them

Do we need to win tonight to ensure home court advantage in the second round?

The scenarios are now down to these......

For anyone questioning @HCP or @KingSpeed

This chart shows on the 8th line that Portland gets HCA with an OKC win, a Spurs win, and a Utah Win.
It also shows that the only way for Portland to drop to 5, is for Memphis to beat OKC tonight.

Kudo's on Kingspeed for being aware of the threeway tiebreaker rules, and kudos to HCP for posting the graph which apparently came from the league.
