4 pts 2 rebs 4 fouls

Another typical game from G.O.

He made his usual bone headed fouls but Nate has got to get him more touches.

This isn't even the emotion of the loss talking: We need a trade for somebody (anybody!) who's interested in playing defense ... to not have made any substantive improvements in this area after nearly 50 games is completely unacceptable for this late in the season.

I'd love to disagree with this, but I can't. This team was better defensively last season. I think it's time to sit Oden and try Przy in order to stop these brutal starts by the opponent in the pick and roll, and also to waste some fouls protecting the rim when the guard are invariably beaten on the perimeter. I also hope Steve Blake and Martell Webster come back soon.

A very young team at the end of a long road trip just lost to another very young team.

I don't get all of the McMillan hate, but I am getting used to it.

I want Jack back.

OK, not really. But I do want physical team defense. Is that so hard to ask for?

how many times do you wanna watch us suck on defense before you get upset about it?

Our issue isn't personnel, it's coaching. We have a bunch of great individual talents and prospects that any coach would beg to have, Nate isn't utilizing it however. Trade for someone who wants to play defense? Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla want to play defense but they can't get out on the court because our coach would rather play to the opposition's strength's than our strength, which is our bigs.

Neither Joel nor Greg could get back in time as the pace was too fast.

Nate tried to slow it down, but couldn't, and we went down by 20.

We can outrun the Okies, but we started way too late.

Oh, and for the life of me I cannot understand why Nate McMillan never uses the pick and roll himself. It's the most effective play in basketball (according to him at least), and he uses it like twice a game. I'm bewildered.

Yeah, that's a real puzzler.

Sergio and Joel have it down to perfection and could literally score 45 out of 50 times a game if they ran it.

But I guess that would cut into the "Roy iso" attempts or some other bad vibe.:dunno:

Tough loss in this tight playoff race. But not a killer in my eyes. Thunder have been playing tough, taking teams out and pissed they just let one go to Denver. Blazers are on the end of a road trip and steped right into a snake pit.

That isn't to say the Blazers are playing well. They are playing medicore of late (even in that winning streak) and need a big win to get them going (I was hoping it was the Dallas game).

I'll say the unpopular though . . . this team misses Blake, especially on the road. For all of Sergio stepping up and driving more and Bayless doing his thing, they miss miss the steadiness and leadership you need from a PG.

Blazers need to get healthy (Joel, Martell, Blake, Roy) and they will start clicking in the second half of the season.

LaBron says Nate is a great defensive coach!!! I have to say I disagree after tonight. If Nate needs to sit these guys for not playing D then do it. I don't care if it's Brandon Roy, who should be stepping up and yelling at these guys. This loss is a disgrace.

That's what's so sweet about having such a deep, young team.

Bake it!

I know I am overreacting probably, but it really pisses me off that I put so much time and energy into this team and the effort just isn't there..we need to quit looking forward to the all-star break.

The defense improved considerably after the first 24 minutes of the game. Perhaps less Oden and Sergio defending the pick and roll means better defense?

Tough to get into a rhythm when both the coach won't run plays for you and the players won't feed him. 0 shot attempts in 1 half..wow.. we sure know how to use our #1 pick. And no I don't want Durant, Nate would mess him up 2.

Is it too much to ask a physical freak like Oden to crash the offensive boards, protect the rim, and hustle?

It's gone from "Greg is going to be a defender and a rebounder" to "he doesn't get enough shots, so it's everybody else's fault".

He wasn't drafted for his offense. Durant could have obviously handled that role.

Ouch. Well, I think retribution is coming next week.

Retribution means nothing at home. We know this team can play at home. They feed off the emotion of the crowd. What this team HASN'T shown, is the ability to consistently win on the road.

And again, can anyone explain to me why Nate doesn't use the PNR more often?

If you watched the game though, he was going after every offensive rebound. I can recall at least 5 situations where Oden tapped the ball around but no one was there to help him because they were all jogging back on defense. It's not Oden who's not giving the effort, more like ever one else just chugging along. Pathetic.

They're 12-14 on the road. How do you define "consistent"?

He didn't get the rebounds. That is what he was drafted for along with his "game-changing" presence in the paint. Look, I think Greg will be a very good and possibly great NBA player. But I have a hard time watching poster after poster criticize everybody else on the team, along with the coach, in order to make excuses for a guy who is not blocking shots or defending. I'll give him a small pass on the rebounds because he has some bursts (when he's on the floor w/out foul trouble) where he dominates the glass. I just want, nope, I NEED to see that as the season goes on in a more consisten manner.

A few more "efforts" like tonight, and you have to start asking if this team has quit on Nate.

Normally, I find the attacks on Nate overblown. IMHO, they are largely the result of people having an exagerated sense of how good our roster is. OTOH, if Nate has lost the team - there isn't much you can do except replace him.

Because 4 guys were crowding him and he still almost got it. His teammates need to help him and not leave him in the dust, which is what they have been doing.

I'm right there with you mas . . . you wait all day for the game. get pumped, figure Blazers take care of business and win this and increase that winning percentage.

Instead they come out lethargic, embarrassed themselves (the thunder players were joking around during net repair) and drop in winning percentage.

It's the NBA, there will be another game before we know it . . .

Well, that's something I hadn't seen posted or had considered myself. I keep reading how the mantra is "throw it inside to Oden" every practice, yet the games come and it just doesn't happen. You may be on to something, old man.

See, this is exactly what I was talking about with the excuses.

What's funny is Mike and Mike are talking possible coach of the year honors and some on this board are saying he should be fired.

i highly doubt these players quit on nate. isnt that normally something a veteran group of players do?
