Blazers contact "Select group" of free agents

Mike Born, the Blazers' director of NBA scouting, said the team reached out to a "select group" of free agents shortly after the free agent market opened at 9 p.m. Wednesday. Born and Chad Buchanan, the Blazers' director of college scouting, are handling the bulk of the free agent negotiations while Miller conducts the search for a general manager. Scout Joe Cronin also is assisting Born and Buchanan, while coach Nate McMillan is consulting.

Whatever that means.

Born said the Blazers contacted mostly point guards and wings although a few big men were contacted. He said the team will now begin to interview players, bringing some to its facility in Tualatin and traveling to others.

Basically, they could have contacted anyone.

My sources are telling me these two players are on the top of the list though. The Blazers would like to get both signed, but understand if they aren't able to:

1. Steve Blake
2. Travis Outlaw
