The NBA's free agency period starts on July 1 and the Trail Blazers are looking at eight potential free agents in need of new contracts.
The biggest name in Portland headed for the open market is undoubtedly four-time All-Star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who could be leaving Rip City after nine seasons. Despite speculation that Aldridge has played his last game as a Blazer, one fan has a plan to keep him in Portland.
Blazers fan JoAnna Wulffenstein and the fan group Blazer Gang are organizing a 'Stay LA' rally on Sunday, June 28 to help convince Aldridge to remain with the Blazers. The event will be held at Blitz Ladd on 2239 SE 11th Ave. in Portland and will include food, music by Blazers DJ O.G. One and a message board where fans can leave their pleas for Aldridge to stay.
The first 100 fans in attendance are promised "Stay LA" T-shirts and there will also be a shooting contest for fans trying to re-create Aldridge's fall away jumper.
"I just want LaMarcus Aldridge to understand how important he is to the fanbase and to this city," Wulffenstein told Bleacher Report. "I want him to understand how much we love him and how much we believe in him as being the piece to build around for our team to get to a championship."
The rally is open to all ages and is scheduled to begin at noon on June 28.
