Blazers getting a G league team, playing at U of P. HCP hired as G-League janitor

I love it tbh especially as I just knew they would mess it up due to how fucking horrifying the new mascot is.

I like the new mascot. Blaze is pretty lame IMO and is very handsy. Watch him whenever someone is winning anything. If not for the costume, he would go to jail.

Love the name and got season tickets two rows off the court.
I also think the new mascot is at least 100 times better than Blaze. I hope Blaze is sent down to the G League.

Portland Trailblazers = R Kelly - Ignition
Rip City Remix = R Kelly - Ignition (Remix)

Still too soon?

Yes, I get that, but why would that be the name of a basketball team?
The Portland Trail Blazers were the original professional basketball team instituted in Portland in the 70's.

This is a new professional basketball team being instituted in the same city, with the same 70's styling, with the same basic logo elements. They've taken many of the original elements and rearranged, repurposed, and repackaged them into a new version with callbacks to the original--thus, a remix.

It's clever and cool--don't overthink it (like I just did).

OK, right, clever, now that I get it. Thank you!!

I love the logo and the name...this is going to rock! Much better than the Idaho Stampede in my opinion...I really hope it brings jlprk out of retirement to call some G league play by plays again on S2!

Knowing the culture of Portland, I could see the Remix becoming almost as popular as the Blazers, as following something like the G League would be a very hipster thing to do.
If I lived nearby I'd go for sure.

Do they have an age maximum? I'm heading on down!

(haven't played ball in like 10+ years.... should I be worried?)

So I'm eligible!!!

I believe they are looking for a "free throw guy" and lots of hecklers...everybody around here would qualify. Probably will find guys like Michael Beasley or Alan Crabbe looking for a roster spot

I'm confused by that last part. It says "not have participated in basketball activities after October 15th, 2023" .... Which is almost a month AFTER the tryout. Did they mean 2022?

I believe it refers generically to rules for laying in the GLeague. Which comes across confusing, as you mentioned. But a college player can't try out, make the team, have practice with their college in late October, and then stay on the team. Or, ignoring the tryout, a college player is(I assume) ineligible for the GLeague if they have done any college activities after that date.

$300 to try out? Isn't the G-League aimed at guys scraping to make a living? So, this is just lemonade stand to support the new CBA?
