Several sources with knowledge of the situation have told Tommy Dee that the Portland Trailblazers are getting serious about trading for David Lee.

The Blazers’ organization feels Lee’s style of play would fit perfectly in Portland as he can play in both the half court system and get out and run as well as any forward in the NBA.

The Knicks may be interested in Jerryd Bayless, who has fallen behind Sergio Rodriguez on their depth chart, and whom the team passed on in this year’s draft or Rodriguez , but the combination of either and a first round pick won’t be enough to entice Walsh. This is where a third team may get involved.

Interesting. Would love having him as our backup PF. Seeing as he is a free agent after this year, moving someone like Bayless for him seems awfully risky. I don't consider Bayless untouchable by any means. Though I really want to see him stick around, I could see him moved in the right deal, but if we're moving him, it'd better be to improve a starting position, not improve a 15 minute per night bench spot. That doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.

I'm not sure Bayless has "fallen behind" anyone. He's just not ahead.

I would think that the Knicks would like to have Sergio, as he fits perfectly in their system. And while I'd hate to lose Sergio, if it got us Lee, that wouldn't hurt that bad.

I would hope there's a bigger trade in addition to that one if that is one they end up doing.

I'd love to see Sergio + filler moved for him. It still doesn't address scoring and perimeter D issues, but it would be a massive upgrade at backup PF at least.

He is good and all but really lee? Is that something we really need to do? Another player with little experience at winning and has spent his entire nba career at a backwards FKD up franchise...

I like Lee, but no way I trade Bayless for half a season for Lee, especially when power forward is not some huge need. Portland may not have a great backup power forward, but that doesn't make the position a huge need.

fools...getting lee for bayless would redefine the term pritch slapped.

lee is exactly what we need...bayless isnt and never will be as god as lee.

its funny...blazer fans have gotten so use to devloping mediorcre players like outlaw...they dont wanna proven players to help get this team to the playoffs.

I'm against trading Bayless because I still think the kid is going to be really good. I'm scared of trading Sergio because of what ramifications it might have with Rudy. Kind of a catch 22. Plus, I'm with eveyone else on Lee. Seems like a risky move. I'd much rather look at a small forward or a point guard.

Lee wants to start. He's said that before. That obviously won't happen in Portland. He's also an impending free agent who would want big money this offseason. Why would Portland then offer him a lot of money if he were only to be a backup to LaMarcus Aldridge? The answer is they won't. That's why Lee would be a half season rental and not worth trading a good prospect like Bayless for.

I'm just all about agreeing with Minstrel this morning. I don't think Bayless is worth giving up for Lee given how little of Bayless we've seen. I still don't get why we would try to grab Lee. Unless it was something like Sergio + Batum for Lee so that Lee could spend some time at SF, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Aldridge is going to play 30-35 mpg, and that doesn't leave much for a back-up PF, unless you plan on getting rid of Aldridge (which I wouldn't). Add on the fact that Lee is expiring (he is right..?), and I really don't see the point unless we're just really ready to be done with Sergio.

What exactly does David Lee do? He's a so-called "energy guy", but so was Renaldo Balkman, whom the Knicks faithful also loved for a while. He rebounds, but is that a serious weakness for us? Last I heard, Mike D'Antoni was publically calling him out for shoddy defense. That's like being called out by Allen Iverson for lack of effort in practice.

Yeah, because we've all seen how Lee has helped get the Knicks to the play-offs.

I'm not against getting Lee, for the right price, but your "argument" makes no sense (but then what did I expect?). What has Lee proven - that he doesn't deserve to consistently start on one of the crappiest teams in the league over the course of his career? Yes, Lee is better than any of our current back-up power forwards, but if there's one thing he's not, it's a proven winner.

When did Lee become a "proven" player?

Lee is a VERY quality player and deserves to be a starter. Since you already have LMA I really dont see why POR would do this unless it was for a bigger trade already in place down the line involving LMA or Lee

And if Sergio or Bayless plus a 1st rounder isn't enough we can send them Oden while were at it! Thank you New York, may we have another?

No team is going to give much up to get Lee unless they're really sure he's going to resign. And in the Blazers case, unless there's an impending LMA deal we don't know about, he's definitely not resigning. About the most I'd give up for Lee is Shav-bo and a 2nd rounder. And I like Lee.

ok guys...we can keep throwing diogu and channin fuckin frye out there and hope they hit there 20 ft jumpers.

lee doesnt bang, doesnt rebound, doesnt post up. he does nothing we need.

hes everything our big men arent. lets wait for bayless to develop like we did with outlaw. that worked out well.

I really don't see how this trade makes sense. If the Blazers are in the mix for Lee, it's part of a larger deal, most likely a 3 team deal.

blazer fans like teh word potential...its just that none of our players ever live up to it.

very typical...pass on a guy like lee...lets keep the scrubs

lee would be a fan favorite in portland. he would be great on a good team but nah...lets wait till next year and hope bayless develops lol or maybe aldridge finally bangs...or maybe outlaw will get smart.

pass on lee lol

least he does something...wtf do our bigs do????? you really wanna ike and frye over lee lol?

pass on lee lol

how do you propose that Portland keeps him for longer than half a season?

No, I don't. So, if the Knicks will take Ike and Frye for Lee, I'd do it in a New York minute.

Unfortunately, something tells me they'll want more than our garbage in return.

On shitty teams. Big deal.

So its Lee's fault the rest of his team sucked?!?

KG with the Wolves
Redd with the Bucks
Bosh on the Raptors
Jason Richardson with the Bobcats (when he was)
B. Diddy on the Clippers
Kevin Martin on the Kings
OJ Mayo on Memphis

Do they all suck too?

LEE IS ESTABLISHED....

established is a bad word here

and if kp is so good...he cn find a wy to keep lee. honestly lee might be better then aldridge

Lee isn't established any more than Aldridge, so unless you want us to get rid of LaMarcus, you're going to be paying 8+ million a year for a backup PF who plays ~15 minutes a night.

Awesome idea MIXUM, just awesome.

im saying that having LA and LEE uld be the past pf tandem in the nba and haveing joel and oden would be the best center tandem.

if we could ever get a real sf...it would be a sick team

and if roy could stay healthy.
