Blazers interested in OG Anunoby?

Going to be EXTREMELY unhappy if we use the 7th on Grant.

Wholeheartedly agree. I want to keep the 7. There are so many unknowns in this draft class. My prediction is that there will be a few second rounders that end up better than some of the first rounders. Moreso than normal years.

If we could get OG and Grant, I think that could go a long way.

Dame
Ant
OG
Grant
Nurk

That's a pretty solid starting lineup.
Looks like a playoff team to me with an outside shot at getting out of the first round. Whoopee!

Yeah, that would be phenomenal. Who's gonna trade 9 and 20 for 7?
San Antonio. Moving up to secure...whoever it is they want. Sharpe or Daniels before new Orleans does. Toronto gets duren at 9 to better balance their lineup.

I'd take #7 over OG. Especially if we can get Murray. I'd rather live with the unknown that he is plus the rookie salary. I like OG but the price is too steep.
And OG only played about half of the games the last two seasons.

That is certainly a concern. And also for Grant that last couple of seasons.
Grant has played in 101 of 154 games the past two seasons, which is 2/3rds not 1/2. Injuries of concern (for me anyway) are generally joint injuries where cartilage is cut away. After bumping around on google, I'm not aware that Grant has had any of those. Last year he suffered a torn thumb ligament on his shooting hand which was surgically repaired and he seemed to be fine afterwords. He also had a calf strain down the stretch. The year prior he had knee inflammation which was treated with rest.

OG had a knee scoped in college. While he's been anything but an ironman, the past two seasons he's had a series of injuries that shouldn't cause longterm concern. A broken finger, strained calf, sprained ankle & Covid have had him appearing in 91 of 154 games the past two seasons.

A healthy version of either of these two would be the best Blazer forward in 5 years. I don't think they'd be an ideal pairing though as they're both SF sized and neither could reasonably switch onto Bigs on D. One would be a welcome addition and then I'd direct my talent acquisition efforts elsewhere.

Doesn’t adding 2 good players basically put right back where we were? Good enough not to be good enough or bad enough to be good at some point
I really like OG, despite his injury issues. I think he'd be a huge addition for us, and the best SF we've had in a long time. I think that starting 5, with Hart, Winslow, Watford is more intriguing than what we've had in a while.

OG seems more like a player you add on without giving up a top 10 pick.

Not really sold on him.

Toronto added him with the 23rd pick in his respective draft. Grant was the 39th pick.

Portland needs to draft better.

It probably helps (now) to have a better scout team instead of Neil depending on himself for it.

2018 all NBA first team Damian Lillard with CJ, Nurk, Aminu, Harkless lost in the first round. A healthy Dame and good players doesn’t mean shit. CJ averaged 21.4 that season. We need a superstar or star 2way wing
Dame was playing hurt in 2018 as well...not the same team...I said a "healthy" Dame...also no CJ, Chief or Mo....Chief hasn't been a starter since he left Portland...Nurk hasn't played with a great PF..last really good defender we had was Evan Turner...and he couldn't shoot. Nurk was good next to Chief but Mo and Chief were completely left open to brick shots...put even more pressure on Dame...right now we're an unfinished product but I think Dame is going to have a career year...my speculation. Whether they go deep in the playoffs, who knows?

That is not the same as Dame, Ant, Hart, Winslow, hopefully-healthy Little, Nurk and "new forward" being coached by Chauncy Billups. A big difference in the guard rotation. A big difference in the coach. And a big difference in the forwards. Neither Harkless nor Aminu ever became the players we hoped for, or felt integral to the chemistry of the team. They felt more like bench players. Hart and Winslow are the opposites of that. Little has the consistent energy that Harkless didn't.
A very different team to me.

Due to the horrible fit on both ends that Dame and CJ were on top of the limitations that Moe and Chief had... I have hope that we'll put together a better team than Dame has had around him to this point and one of those teams made it to the conference finals... barely. I'm excited to see Dame playing healthy for the first time since before he was all nba first team. I'm excited to see if we put players around him that are a better fit than we have before. So we'll see if we do that and if we do what the results will be.

Do I wonder if Dame/Ant will just be Dame/CJ part 2? Yeah, I do. Do I wonder if Grant can be more than he's been when paired with a superstar like Dame but still given more opportunities than he was on the Nuggets or if he'll just be mediocre? Yeah, I do. I also wonder if this front office will be better at drafting and if they're even interested in drafting this year. I guess we'll see the answer to all of those questions and that's exciting.

Why in the FUCK are we still trying to convince ourselves that Dame can lead good players to title contention? We need 2 way wing stars, or at least one of them.

Dame is a one way ball dominant pg. a great one, but we need a front court focus. OG and Grant are nice pieces to a great team, not great pieces to make a bad team great. They will make us good, JUST LIKE WE HAVE BEEN

Yes Dame has primarily been used as a ball dominant PG, but I sure do wish the staff would take a page from how the Warriors use Steph. The Warriors diversify their attack with consistent ball movement running Curry off of a bazillion picks instead of just high pick and roll isos. Because Curry is such a perimeter threat, teams have to jump the picks effectively doubling him off the ball leaving the rest of his teammates 4 on 3. With this gravitational pull taking defenders off the ball away from the paint, teammates get consistent wide open 3pt looks & clear paths to the hoop for backdoor cuts & dunks. Of course it helps to have other guys who're playmakers like Green and Iguadala to take advantage of this...

Find out what the team looks like before you throw it into the dumpster....Dame's core injury has had a lot to do with how he uses his energy on the court....Hart and Winslow are way better defenders than you're used to seeing in a Blazer uniform....stars is sort of a confusing title for great players...Melo is a star...seen better days...Westbrook is a star...same...I take Dame's leadership and clutch play over many, many of the "stars" you think will help us contend...my point is ..look at the Nets and Lakers this year ...it's a Hollywood walk of fame on those teams....not sold my friend. We do need length at the wing and we have Josh Hart .....great defender...if we get OG he's a top tier defender...one of the best in the game...let Chauncey build his team the way he wants and hopefully with a healthy season the style of ball around Dame will not look like is has with CJ.....Dame never played healthy under Chauncey....I still think we're looking at a career year from him and if Joe builds the team I think he's trying to build...wouldn't surprise me to win 50 games and make some playoff noise. Winslow's defense really reminds me of Iguodala in his prime. I think you'll be surprised this season MM. Hell the Nets had Blake Griffin, Lamarcus Aldridge, Paul Milsap and Kevin Durant subbing in and out for each other...Milsap got frustrated and left. If that's not a star studded bench I don't know...I was shocked the Lakers and Nets didn't face off in the finals but at the end it thrills me to see it. Those teams didn't shy away from luxury tax....we have for a long time

That was the giant problem with the Clippers trade; it put the Blazers in this current position of having lost their starters, with no means to easily replace them, no assets to bring in better starters, and no good youth or picks to rebuild. Could Norm have been part of a package to get a useful wing player in the trade market? Maybe or maybe not... but certainly Eric Bledsoe and scrubs are even worse.

The Clippers trade was just a dumb loss of talent, with only delusional fans who wanted change for the sake of change supporting it. Now the Blazers are looking to burn up their future young assets to improve the team to at best exactly what it was before the Clippers trade. This probably ends with the Blazers trading Dame in the next 6-18 months for shit value and having one of the worst rosters with the worst futures in the NBA.

It's just totally beyond depressing. Its crazy that there are so many blind Blazer homers and Olshey pitchfork posters here supporting this franchises continued stupid decisions.

Have you ever been critical or had a negative outlook of the Blazers entering a season?

sure....the Raymond Felton Kaleb Canales lock out season...and that was boring as fuck..worst team I've watched..no reason to go there now...we don't even have a team yet but I like what we're doing...I've been a fan for 45 years so I cheer...plenty of armchair critics ready to melt down around here....I'm not one of them generally. If I didn't like this team for the last ten years it'd be pretty dumb to keep following them eh?...they say misery loves company...I'm not one of those guys when it comes to basketball...politics, sure but sports are for entertainment

Yep. Grant and OG aren't the difference makers (tho I'm not sure there are difference makers available, that wouldn't decimate the team in acquiring).

They could be helpful to the team, but honestly outside of Dame (and *maybe* Simons could become that in time) there isn't really another legit star on the team.

Some potential, but not a lot yet.
