Blazers interested in OG Anunoby?

Every trade in the history of the NBA was for equal value. The players a team received back were always exactly what those players were worth.

There has never been a bad trade or a good trade in the NBA, all trades perfectly and fairly compensate each team with equal value.

The NBA trade market is 100% efficient every time.

A GM never buys high or low, and never sells low or high on a player. The GM always trades a player at the perfect moment in time.

Every GM has equal negotiation skills.

Every GM always selects the maximum return.

We know this because what a player is traded for is what the player was traded for. Thus its always perfectly fair and of equal value every time.

Or, and hear me out, maybe Blazer fans over embellish what their players are worth?

The same criticisms can be applied to Dame, right?

Yeah, Dame sucks at defense. But he's a significantly better player than CJ is or ever will be.

Well yes, lucky for us we currently have Dame.

The Pelicans had Satoranski and Graham. They're pretty freaking ecstatic to now have CJ.

Good for them. I'm ecstatic to be out of CJ's contract and not having the Blazers play a near max salary to a not near max player.

Of course many Blazer fans do. Many fans believe our players, draft picks, and team is much better or worth much more than they are. Fans are homers. Not just Blazer fans, most any teams sports fans.

You have posters now saying the Blazers could trade for multiple players of Woods, John Collins, OG, Grant, etc; or even Durant with some of the shit assets on this roster. Trading the #7 pick for tons of future draft picks, or trading down 5 times to pickup 5 starters and more picks from other teams. They may be very disappointed when we actually see these moves take place.

None of that means Cronin made good trades at the deadline, or even avoided a horrible trade.

So your glad Jody and the Vulcans save a bunch of luxury tax?

I want to see the team acquire talent on the roster. Yes the Blazers don't have CJ's contracts. But they don't have a way to use those savings to add players of equal or superior value. So the product will be worse on the court. They also didn't get meaningful draft assets or youth for long term success.

So the Blazers end up with a reduction of short term talent. No way to replace the outgoing starters talent. Plus no influx of meaningful young talent/picks/long term improvements. Jody saved some cash. It is change for the sake of change, so the Neil pitchfork crowd did get to see that. Maybe those type of roster moves look good to you, they look like shit to me.

What we had wasn't working other than to get us pounded in the 1st round year after year with a fluky exception.....where we then got swept. Not close to a contender. Granted, we didn't get much for the trades, but at least it is another direction to try. The previous one was the definition of being stuck in medicrity.

So we're in agreement, there was no improvement, just change for the sake of change.

The other option had an 8 year run.

This one hasn't even started it's first full season.

....not exactly apples to apples. There is no guarantee with this path.....like the other had guaranteed mediocrity.

I'm with you that we're likely just shuffling the deck but there is a possibility that in doing so we will end up with players that fit better together and with Dame. So at least a less frustrating team to watch win just enough games to get in the playoffs and lose... or we'll get lucky and they'll be good. There's not some definite outcome because when anyone speaks definitively they eliminate a lot of real possibilities.

You do know the GM, President of Operations, 2 assistant GMs and the coach for 10 years were fired this season right? That's hardly done for the sake of change...that's an eraser to an era which is the first major one since Nate was fired......we haven't had a coaching revolving door like the Kings...that's change for the sake of change...Cleveland had how many turnovers of coaches and roster? We've actually been the poster team for stability...tell me how our team looks come tipoff of the regular season. Tell me if you think we're better or worse then...in the meantime I think it's fun watching this team get put together and it's hardly put together yet

Sounds like exactly what myself and many other rational even headed Blazer fans here have been preaching.

But the crazy Blazer homers and Neil pitchfork crowd here makes it sound like the current Blazer roster and management is doing just fine.

Portland is a mess right now and I honestly just feel bad
for them. That Norm trade to the Clippers was a disaster,
and in general the last few years have just been awful
asset management (e.g. trading FRPs for players you then
effectively salary dump, like Covington).

A Dame trade is coming in the next year for sure. Feels
bad man.

This incompetence is literally their best attempt to keep
Dame happy and it's almost sad to see.
They'll probably overpay for whomever they give up the
7th pick for in a trade

I don't know how they possibly thought that Norm
trade was a good idea, every single Blazers fan knew it
was a mistake lol

It's the most immediately evident bad trade I can
remember. I almost did a spit take when I saw the
tweet.

No no no. Other fan bases are wrong. Don't you know only a small subset of Blazer fans is ever right?
