Blazers need more 3 point scoring

We see this differently, Honki. Meyers has better moves, including lateral steps, this year and can defend at 22 to 25 feet out. Meyers does need to get his hands up high to use his length to force a change in trajectory in his opponent's shots. When he does, he is more effective. He is defending as well as Evan while offering valuable scoring power, but needs the playing time to show it. I would play him off the bench against the Thunder to get the win.

Too many minutes are being given to Zach, who should not be attempting swish3s and who becomes weaker on defense after 8 min of play. It is not a winning plan to have Zach taking 4 times as many swish3 attempts as Meyers, or to fail to play fresher talent, obviously with energetic will to win.
I wanna watch the game you watch because it sounds like an interesting, groundbreaking sport

Both Evan and Zach had good games tonight, which is great since Dame, Jusuf, and Chief were in a lull. Meyers also had a down game, which can be at least partly explained by the very small number of playing minutes recently., Kudos to Evan and Zach, and we hope for more energetic contributions to continuing the winning series. But when swish3 scoring is lagging, I would have Meyers shooting 6-12 shots. Two attempts is not enough.

What I liked was seeing Meyers and Zach on the floor together. With more playing time, those 2 bigs can present a strong challenge to teams like the Lakers, Warriors, and Cavaliers. And look at this, the Blazers now have a won-loss record that is better than the Cavaliers!

The Lakers are averaging 10.5 swish3s at 37.4% while the Blazers have decreased to 9.6 swish3s at 36.3%, but the game on March 5 needs to have more Blazer than Laker swish3 scoring. I imagine that Blazer coaches will use available talent to include 12-15 swish3s to enhance the scoring that makes the win likely.

Now I understand. We should have Meyers shooting more because that guarantees he will shoot 50%. So if he misses 10, have him shoot 20 more so he can get 15 swish 3s.

Is there actually a player in the league who is shooting 12 3-point attempts a game, other than Curry (who can justify it)?

Just imagine our game if it was built around Meyers attempting a three every third or fourth play. :D

The game that I imagine is Meyers shooting a swish3 every 3rd or 4th play for the minutes he is in, expecting about 3 for 6 shooting, and keeping the shooting going on nights when he is making 50% or more. Players shooting the most FG3 attempts are Harden, Gordon, Curry, George, and Walker. That pace is a lot of shots, but when a player is hot, those swish3 scores are powerful. In the most likely case, Meyers would shoot 5-6 shots.

There is no certainty of which nights are the hot ones, but these points off the bench would be welcome offensive power to win more games.

Meyers Leonard definitely sounds like he belongs to the same list.

The Blazers got the 10 swish3 average, thanks largely to the 4 swish3s in the 4th quarter (15 consecutive scoring points in 3+ min) from Dame. This is spectacular!

It is hard to find a better example of how powerful the swish3 is to turn the game around than this memorable game to beat the Lakers. Dame, Jusuf, and Shabazz (on defense) were outstanding in their determination to win.

As Terry noted, Damian can literally will the win and make it happen. No one does this better! In game after game, he is showing that he is among the best players in the NBA.

Meyers again had opportunities but airballed his swish3 turning it into a swishair.

Meyers has now had two consecutive games playing more than garbage minutes. The consitent minutes are now there but he played worst agaisnt the lakers than he did minni.
Based on the snall sample sizes you love to refer to, this means the next game he will even be worse. Right now his consistent play has not resulted in swish3’s, but rather has resulted in the blazers losing thier lead.
Based on this trend, the blazers should not put meyers in the game for fear of losing leads.

The last two games show it to the eyeballs and the stats back it up.

Are you done now?
Or do you wanna buy a jersey? Cause thats the only question left worth answering.

Good win for the Blazers tonight and Lillard was clutch!

However with additional 26 swish3 attempts from Meyers we would have got extra 39 points which would have made the win even better. 4 made swish3s in a row from Damian Lillard were huge but must have kept everybody wondering "what if Meyers could shoot 5 swish3s in a row".

Didn't you hear? He apparently airballed a swish3 attempt last night, preferring instead to bring us the whoosh0. 26 whoosh0 attempts would have resulted in...well, nothing good...

Dame made 4 consecutive swish3s in a row, right then we needed them to win! That is as good as it gets!

Let's celebrate the success and note the power of swish3 scoring. Yes, Meyers missed the shot, but that can happen to others, even Dame, at times. What is needed is the determination to win that Dame showed and led others to join him.

In the Knicks and Warriors games upcoming, we can look forward to wins when there is good swish3 shooting from Dame and others. Wouldn't going into the Cavaliers game on a 9 game winning streak feel great?

This is a misconception - He did a SwishPass - but no one of the other Blazers was able to catch the SwishPass and make it into a Dunks2 or Layup2+1. If we can play 2 Meyers Lenonards - I bet we will see lots of SwishPasses turned into Swish3s

Can we go into the Heat game on a 9-game streak, and maybe try to take a 10-game streak into the Cavs game?

Yes. I forgot the Miami game. It should be beating the Cavs as the 11th straight win. Thanks.

The Blazers scored 20 (of 33) swish3s surpassing 7 (of 19) by the Knicks, even though making only 15 of 48 (31%) two pointers, for a decisive win! And that represents 60% swish3 shooting, which shows that it can be done. And it shows the scoring power of the 3 pointer, as the Knicks made 28 of 64 (44%) 2-pointers. Making 13 less 2-pointers but 13 more swish3s is a winner.

That was excellent swish3 shooting by Dame, CJ, Chief, and Shabazz. Let's see if we can use the swish3 scoring strategy to outdo and defeat the Warriors. This kind of basketball is exhilarating!

Maybe this is a HCP question

Does Nards improved towel waving make a swish3 whooshing sound as his towel pushes fhe swish3 movement? Nards played 0 mins in this game against the Knicks, that has to be the reason for swish3 success!

Swish3s by Dame are much better than Swish3s by Meyers.

Since the All Star Game, the Blazers are shooting 30 (29.6) Swish3's per game, as opposed to 27 (26.9) Swish3's before. They're making one (1.2) more Swish3 per game (11.4 vs 10.2), and unsurprisingly, they're scoring 3 points more per game (108.1 vs 105.0); the defense though... we're preventing 2.4 Swish3's more per game (7.4 made after the ASG vs 9.8 before) and fouling less (15 FTM vs 16.8 before) resulting in 8 fewer opponent points per game.

Make more Swish3's, and make your opponent miss more Swish3's... a recipe for Swishcess!

I love the invention of "Shwicess". Like, I really love it...

Yes! Let's see both more swish3 attempts by the best shooters when they are hot, AND improved defense that allows less swish3s from the opposition--particularly against the Warriors on Friday night, and in the playoffs.

With what Dame, CJ, Chief, and Shabazz are doing since the All Star break, it makes sense to keep up the swish3s, including featuring the long ones from Dame. And adding Meyers at key points can add 3 or more swish3s per game. The Blazers have the weapons to score the 120 points that Terry points out are needed to beat the Warriors (or anybody else). A WCF championship looks possible.

The Warriors average 11.8 swish3s scored at 39.6% which is 1st in the NBA, and are 1st in points scored per game. The Blazers can make 50% or more of swish3s per game (nicely demonstrated) and can win the March 9 game.

The Blazers should score 45 points on swish3s, and also play strong aggressive defense, minimize the turnovers, and make 2-pointers, as the Warriors also lead in shooting % for 2-pointers. This can be a nice sequel to the Feb Warriors win.

The Blazers scored 48 points with swish3s in the win over the Warriors, who scored only 36 points by swish3s. The excellent swish3 strategy included 39 attempts, which were worth it.

This was another excellent swish3 game for CJ, and very good for Mo and Dame. With the winning mentality showed in the 3rd and 4th quarters in aggressive 3 point shooting, defense, and the much better minimizing of turnovers, the Blazers are playing like Champions of the Western Conference, and probably the NBA.

I hope that we will see the winning streak extended to 12 or more. This can be the year!

Imagine if the Blazers get Paul George next season. With Dame-CJ-PG and Nurk now that’s a playoff contender for years.

The Blazers scored 42 points (14 of 36) which were again 12 points more than the Heat, as in the win on Mar 9 over the Warriors. The shooters in the Heat game of Mar 12 were Dame, CJ, Zach, and Pat.

Dame is now the NBA leading scorer for 2nd half points, and again showed the power of willing the win. That is great swish3 shooting at key times.

This was a superb game for Jusuf, with 27 points, 16 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 assists! Kudos, Jusuf! With this kind of effort, this winning streak is going beyond 12, and the wins for the season looks likely to surpass 50.

This Blazer team, playing as they are now, can be the winner of the Western Conference--the Champions!

This is the year for Blazers to be the real deal, including NBA Champions.

You keep mentioning "Dame, CJ, Zach, and Pat" (and of course, Biebs). However, Zach #TheRealSwish3 Collins is shooting 47.1% from 3 post all-star break.

No problem. Just delete Meyers Leonard from all your future posts, and insert Zach #TheRealSwish3 Collins.
