Blazers Off-Season Grade? (1 Viewer)

Just look at Dallas

Most likely

Harris
Ellis
Parsons
Dirk
Chandler

Mo
Carter
Wright

Dallas is now better than Portland imo

That's laughable.

First, they probably won't get Parsons. Second, not one of their starters is clearly better than our starters.

Dame > Harris
Wes = Ellis
Nic = Parsons (if he ends up there)
LA > Dirk
Rolo > Chandler

The benches are a crap shoot. Carter is older than Dirt, Mo is garbage, and Wright is nothing to write home about. The Mavs are a sinking ship and they did nothing to really stop the oncoming water. Parsons will be back with Houston.

Laughable analysis. I didn't realize people still play that game.

The Mavs are a better coached team, and they improved their roster from last season when they only finished 5 games behind the Blazers.

Carlisle will get them playing defense and they have a lot of scoring in their starting 5.

Who played the Spurs tougher than any other team again?

Well they were only 5 games worse than the Blazers last year and improved their SF/C positions

Carlisle is also a better coach than Stotts

They haven't improved their SF position yet. Stop acting like that's a done deal.

Chandler is not an upgrade.

Over the past three seasons he has played in 62, 66, and 55 games. He's making $14 million next season. That's a joke.

Oh, and here's a comparison between Chandler and Dalembert.

Dalembert played in significantly more games. He had a better rebound%. He had a better defensive rating. PER36, he outplayed Chandler.

Big difference...

Dallas is getting older and Portland has young players still developing. Even if CJ and T Rob improve slightly, they definitely are an improvement over the Mavs.

Pssst... 5 games is a lot bro.

I'd give Olshey a C grade, on the assumption that "C" signifies average work. He didn't have much to work with and he got solid, but not remarkable, value for what he had to work with. Kaman and Blake pretty clearly upgrade the bench, IMO. The team is not much better than last year, but that was going to be nearly impossible to achieve considering they had no cap space or major trade assets that they don't depend upon remaining on the roster. They did the only thing they could do--improve at the margins. That has value in tight postseason series.

To date: C

The best thing I like about the moves is Kaman's contract involves a buyout after 1 yr.

It's hard to say anything negative about Blake because I really like him as a person, but I think Mo brings much more to the table than Blake.

My hope is the a couple young players emerge this year as true NBA players and not just players with potential. Overall my excitement from winning a playoff series to going into this year has dropped off significantly. But the summer isn't over and maybe Kaman and Blake can make a difference . . . come on T-Rob and CJ!

Chandler is a smart player that tells players where to be on defense

Dalembert is the opposite of that. He's a mindless fool.

PER36 numbers are stupid. Chandler actually gets those minutes. Dalmerbert doesn't because he doesn't deserve them and hasn't averaged more than 26min a game since the 2007-2008 season. Oh yeah, he's only on his 6th team in 6 seasons.

Fuck, the Mavs moved Dalembert FOR Chandler. They know the difference between the two pretty damn well.

Close the basketball-reference page and actually talk basketball.

62, 66, and 55 games. Talk all you like, but the guy is injury-prone and overpaid.

A trade (like last year)? A signing of a player for less than they were expected to receive (like last year)? A player choosing us over someone else (like last year)?

A trade like last year? We didn't have the draft picks that we did last year to do that. And why do they need to make a trade just for the sake of doing something? You don't even say "good trade", you just want a trade? Sometimes a little consistency helps more than constant turnover.

And neither player that was signed has an outrageous contract, neither in amount or in length.

And I believe we just had a player choosing us over someone else.

Look at Aldridge the last 3 years

55/66
74/82
69/82

198/230

Chandler

62/66
66/82
55/82

183/230

So Chandler missed 15 more games over 3 seasons compared to Aldridge

I like him so I'm not going to give him what I think the offseason deserves.

C-

to be fair, i was suspect of lopez as well, dudes TRB% numbers were atrocious. some wise posters pointed out that his teamates rebounded great around him though.

dho ate him alive, i hadnt seen dwight play lately and really didnt have any idea he was so dominant still, but that was embarrassing

Dwight Howard season

18/12

Dwight Howard playoffs

26/14

Uh, yeah. Made him look like Wilt chamberlain.

Terry single covered him. It was a strategic move. How many centers in the league can single-cover Dwight Howard?

It's not like Dwight Howard has an array of great post moves

Lopez just has slow feet. Easy for players to beat him off the dribble with his slow feet and reaction time.

I'm sorry, I guess I'm just having a hard time understanding how it's a big deal that Lopez can't single-cover the best center in the league...

lol at any idiotic posts with C's in the grade. Your posts need to realize that the expectation didn't meet the reality. Stop putting up posts of projection without first drinking a bit of reality. The only reasons your posts are pissy is because you didn't have reasonable expectations. So, that's on your posts.

Pissy? Honestly I think most everyone has been pretty even keeled ... except for you perhaps?

Being the best center in the NBA doesn't mean anything these days

Dwight is far from a great post scorer. He gets ragged on all the time, especially anytime the Rockets play on TNT. He just doesn't dominate like a great big man should.

Well....... he does when he plays against Robin Lopez. Really exposed Robin.

C is average. I expected an average off-season and got one. I think my expectations met reality.

Their posts have gathered with pitch forks and torches. They shall be storming your front door shortly.

Check you out . . . you spew spastic posts that show you don't have a clue what you are talking about, than in less than 5 minute admit you are wrong with egg on your face and make jokes about yourself . . . and then you post something like this.

Try thinking before you post, it helps.
