Alright, MaxieP. You were right.

I still say this is a contending team. Neil put together a deal to give this team that's worked so hard all year long for an opportunity to close the deal.

I didn't get to watch the game. Looks like Dame lit up the box score. How did he play in the loss?

I agree our starters can contend with any team's starters. However, our bench production is worrisome.

Looked spectacular in the first half. Dropped off a some in the second half. Could have used more of him in the 4th. Had we, the game may not have went into OT.

If Damian could be just an average defender, and we could have just an average bench, we'd be serious contenders.

CJ looked great in his minutes as Did Freeland on Defense.

I like CJ and you already know I like Freeland. CJ is taking time to develop and that was expected since his previous injury. How's it going, dviss?

GPs son commited to Oregon State next season. I think GPs career took priority over Damian Lillard this summer. He got a new job and hired a guy to work with his son in Oakland. Dame was traveling as well. It was probably just tough to find a slot for both of them to be in the same place at the same time.

Wes having to defend Hill late in the game because Lillard refuses to get into a defensive crouch was a good move by Stotts, until Hill figured out that Wes would have to let him take shots.

Why is it that if someone says a bad thing about LMA, you're the first to jump on them, even if it is correct. And yet this past two weeks or so(seems like it started right about when Brian made his is Lillard MVP thread), you toss in posts like this in every game thread and do the exact same thing to Lillard.

Tough loss, few bad possessions, but was a hell of a back and forth all night. Would love to see 7 of those in June. Would be an incredible series that nobody would watch.

I complimented Lillard a bunch tonight. He played awesome offensively. Read the thread again. I'm not bashing Lillard, I'm pointing out that Stotts had to move Wes onto Hill. This was a fact. Watch the game.

I thought the turning point in the game was when LA picked up those three fouls in the third quarter. He had to play much more passively, and it negatively affected his game.

We need to hire a defensive coach specifically for Dame. He's become a big liability on defense, and I don't think it's a lack of effort. He just needs to work on his stance and footwork.

Yeah as good as he was on offense today, he was even worse on defense.

We gave them that game. Had it. And gave it right away. Literally in Overtime.

Positives:
Should have won despite nothing offensively from Batum (and Matthews until late 4th)
Lopez outplayed Hibbert, and it wasn't even close
Lillard is only getting better
We match up scarily good with the Pacers
The bench played fairly well tonight

a 7 game series with them in the finals would not look like a dream match up for the NBA... but the competition would be so damn good it could change the landscape of the NBA in terms of the small markets.

WHY!? Why the refusal to foul for possession in a one possession game? Yeah, yeah, I know the conventional wisdom is against fouling when you're up by 3 but I'd take our chances at the line.

Indiana inbounded the ball to Roy Hibbert! Foul that dude and we win the game. Very frustrating, don't see the logic in giving them a chance to tie it.

The ending of regulation reminded me of the SA- Miami final. One missed rebound.......resulting in three to tie.
I thought Earl looked good though. The shot selections when he was in was better than with Mo in there. Especially the end of the 1st quarter. Tough loss.

Good point on the SA-Miami reference.

Yeah, I liked Earl in there tonight.

That lob that nearly went in was hilarious, and he did cause a costly turnover by running someone else's route cutting to the basket, but otherwise played great.

Reason we were giving up offensive boards was because LA started switching on picks for some reason and was stuck on the perimeter for much of the overtime
Apparently this was the only way the coaches could think to stop West from having wide open shots.

Wow, good call.

Both those plays would not have occurred if he played regularly. I am sure he will have some stupid turnovers tonight as well for the same reason, but what I liked was seeing the true PG instincts he obviously has. I want to see more of him.

Exactly, and exactly. I liked his play out there overall.
