• Friday will mark the third of four regular season meetings between Portland and New Orleans. The final meeting will come on April 6 in Portland.

• The Trail Blazers defeated the Pelicans in the first matchup this season, 110-107 in Portland but the Pelicans came back to beat the Trail Blazers, 110-108, on Dec. 30 in New Orleans.

• The Blazers have staged three of the nine biggest comebacks against New Orleans in franchise history, overcoming deficits of 27 (11/10/06, the largest-ever comeback against New Orleans), 21 (1/6/94) and 20 (2/2/09).

• LaMarcus Aldridge recorded his 10,000th career point on his first basket of the game against the Pelicans on Dec. 21, becoming just the sixth player in franchise history to score 10,000 points with the Trail Blazers and the second fastest to do so (539 games).

• LaMarcus Aldridge (28) and Damian Lillard (29) combined for 57 of the Trail Blazers total 108 points against the Pelicans on Dec. 30.

• On the Dec. 21 matchup, Damian Lillard led the Trail Blazers, scoring 29 points on 11-for-21 shooting along with grabbing two rebounds and dishing out five assists.

• Portland is 5-4 in its last nine games played in New Orleans.

• Eight of the last 10 games played between Portland and New Orleans have been decided by single digits.

• Pelicans Head Coach Monty Williams was an assistant coach with Portland from 2005-10.

• Monty Williams is 6-8 (.429) all-time against Portland…Terry Stotts is 7-8 (.467) all-time against New Orleans.

• Robin Lopez played in New Orleans during the 2012-13 season, when he averaged 11.3 points and 5.6 rebounds.

• Pelicans center Jeff Withey was drafted by the Trail Blazers with the ninth pick in the second round of the 2013 draft before being traded to New Orleans on July 10, 2013.

• Thomas Robinson and New Orleans center Jeff Withey were teammates at the University of Kansas.

• Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans and Trail Blazers forward Thomas Robinson were teammates for 51 games in the 2012-13 season with the Kings

• Ex-Blazer Damon Stoudamire holds the second-highest opponent points against record in New Orleans franchise history with the 54 he scored on 1/14/05. In that contest, Stoudamire took an opponent franchise record 16 three-pointers, connecting on eight.

HEAD-TO-HEAD HISTORY
ALL TIME: Trail Blazers lead, 40-27
IN PORTLAND: Trail Blazers lead, 22-10
AT THE PELICANS: Trail Blazers lead, 18-17

GO BLAZERS!!!

OK, seriously, is their place really called the Smoothie King Center?

What the fuck is next?

Why isn't Luke Babbit listed on the roster, did the Pelicans dump him already?

He isn't in their regular rotation, so I didn't include him. But yes, he's still on the roster, and he did play 11 minutes in the Pelicans' previous game against the Grizzlies, but only because Evans and Gordon were both out with an illness.

Wow. I didn't even know they switched names... THE SMOOTHIE KING?! Wow....

Anthony Davis is going to have a field day. This will be an incredibly tough game for us. My guess is they will try to jump on us quickly and hope we quit.

At this point, I think all the Blazers are thinking about is going home. This road trip cannot have gone more poorly for us.

AD's been destroying people lately so yeah I don't think this is going to end very well either

The Smoothie King should marry the Dairy Queen and have little Peanut Buster Parfaits.

I think tonight, our destruction will be at the hands of Jeff Withey and Luke Babbitt.

Check out this pic I found randomly in one of my folders:

Man those were some fun times.

And that's why I balked a bit when people got excited for #1 in the WC.

And the MVP chants in December... both are just like... why?

He was playing like an MVP and it was a great day to be a blazer.

Tonight will be great. Trob is going to shut ad down like a boss and lillard could go for 45+ with a swag attack.

I'm getting visions of Meyers Leonard going off tonight. 18pts 12rbs good d, major swag.

An MVP in December doesn't get crowned in December. I guess that frustrated me. Anyone getting MVP chants is just fucking stupid. Pardon my abrasiveness, it, to me, is just pointless.

It was fun for the fans, got some media attention, and made our guy feel appriciated. I'm failing to see the negatives?

That it was all for naught. That it was just smoke and mirrors. That no one gets crowned an MVP in the first 30 games. That it was pointless.

At least make it really happen when it counts.

They do the 100 point thing... and some guy just picked Mo Willams. Someone earlier this year picked LMA when he was out. Are they just picked from all throughout the season or just this game? Cause if it's just this game... someone isn't paying attention. How embarrassing.

another road game , but this time looks a easy win i predict. Without aldridge the ball movement going harder then withim... Lillard makes 40 points game Batum and Wes Erase the threepoint line.. yeah nice game :D

lol. This is not an easy game.

I don't know if Wright's gonna be able to defend Davis, even though he's not a real low post threat

A sensational assist there by Nic! Wow!
